Write Your Own Spells

I have resisted putting up any spell information on this site because it seems this is the main focus of too many sites. Also because I don't use elaborate workings but like to keep things simple... but I thought I'd at least share a brief overview of what a Spell is and how to create your own.

A spell can be very elaborate with a lot of time and preparation or it can be as simple as a thought or a prayer.

If you feel the need for the elaborate approach, the information provided throughout this site should give you much of the information you may wish to incorporate, I don't have information on Planetary hours here because frankly I just don't understand them and therefore have no business trying to explain it to another.

But regardless of the approach you decide upon, in both cases visualization is the key. Before you start be sure you can write the purpose out in a clear short statement (Keep it simple!).

If you will be taking the elaborate road write on a piece of paper all the elements that correspond to your desire for each of the following, whether or not you intend to actually use them :

• God & Goddess
• Moon phase
• Day of the Week
• Planet
• Planetary Hour
• Element (air, fire, water, earth)
• Number
• Color
• Incense/oils
• Gems or crystals
• Herbs/plants
• anything else you may wish to use.

After you have written out everything that you COULD use, you'll now want to go through the list and determine what you WANT to use (most of the time this is dictated by what you already have around you). You don't have to use most of what you have written but its good to do the research.

Now putting it all together, once you have shortened your list from what you could use to what you will be using, you'll need to set an order for things.

First you should prepare yourself and get things organized and clean in the area you'll be working.

Next if you are casting a circle, how are you going to do that?

Will you be invoking spirits (God, Goddess, elements?)

Do you have candles to be lit or incense? When do you want to light those? Will you be blowing out the candle as part of the spell or letting it burn out?

Are burning herbs as an offering, if so when?

Do you want your spell to rhyme? (It has been proven there's something that changes in the brain activity when we use rhymes, but you don't have to rhyme)

You will need to raise energy needed (dancing, drumming, chanting, visualizing are just a few examples on how to do this), once raised charge it and send it out.

Grounding after is a good idea so you're not carrying around too much excess energy.

Some enjoy bread, cakes or crackers with wine or juice as part of their ritual, will you be including this?

If you invoked the Divine or elements be sure to thank them for coming.

If you opened a circle be sure to close it down afterwards.

Spellwork can be simple or complex, it all depends on you and what you wish to do. The most important part is having your purpose clearly stated in your mind, the clearer the understanding you have, the better the energy will work towards that goal.
