Hi there everybody:
I wasn't planning to send another update letter until next year,
but this is extremely important, and I am very sorry to be the bearer
of bad news. For the past year and a half, I have been part of a
lawsuit, involving my artwork, and a con artist that has ripped off
most of my work. Believe it or not, even though the evidence against
him has been huge (for the lack of a better word), recently, the court
ruled in favor of him. I'm very appalled for this outcome, and as you
can imagine, I already have my lawyer working on it. It seems like
it's going to be a long battle, but I'm sure that I'll be able to come
back from this unfortunate situation. As a consequence of these bad
news, i have more bad news: as part of the court's ruling, I am not
the official owner (or copyright holder) of more than 90% of my
artwork, effective immediatly. I will be taking my website down until
this situation gets fixed. But, as you may already have figured, that
also means that all permissions to use my artwork have been revoked,
also effective immediately. Please, don't panic, like I mentioned
before, I have my lawyer working hard to this will go away quickly.
For now, all I can say is that I'm very sorry that things are
happening this way, and if you have any questions, please don't
hesitate to contact me, I'll be more than happy to respond questions.
But, not everything is bad news. The good news are that today is
December 28th, which is the date when in Mexico we celebrate the "Day
of the Innocent". What is this? you may ask. That is the equivalent in
Mexico (and I'm guessing other countries as well), to what in United
States is the "April Fool's Day". So, in other words, this whole mail
has been a prank of the "Day of the Innocent" (or April Fool's Day in
other words). No lawsuits, no revoking of permissions, etc., so don't
worry, this was just all a bad joke, he. Also, no lawyers were hurt in
the making of this joke. i hope you got a good laugh by this mail, I
surely did, he, he.
