I've had this up in the managers comm but I wanted to let you all know what's going on so you won't wonder.
On the 13th right before Christmas I was coming out of my pharmacy and going to the car where my driver was that my insurance provides for us.
There is one area of the parking lots that has been torn up.  When I was passing through this of course I had to take a fall.  The worst part was that I wasn't able to break my fall because of the way I had things in my hands, so my chin took the full impact.
I went in to my doctor a day or so later he took xrays due to prior surgeries and plates and what not in there.
Everything looked ok as far as that was concerned.
At that time, it really wasn't causing any symptoms, but to be sure everything was in place since my head felt like a football player throwing my head to the ground after scoring a touch down, I went to my doctor.  Everything looked stable so no worries.  A few days later, due to swelling and inflamation from the fall I had my pain management doctor increase my rate, twice I had to go back again.
Since then I've had pain going down the right arm, numbness in the middle 3 fingers, so I get a referral to a spinal surgeon.  It had been a few years and time to check up on everything anyway.
The consult ended up revolving around the cervical (neck) area.
He looked at all the old films, new films, (I had taken several falls during Dec).
His opinion was that he could not and would not touch it.
The scar tissue was too close and an area was around the vocal cords.
If they did surgery, and the scar tissue ruptures as it tends to do, I would totally loose the use of my voice.
I was in shock, not to mention tears.  This is the first I ever heard about that.
He made it very clear that if I looked hard enough I might find a surgeon that would take the chance, but he made it very clear that if I did this, I was putting myself at the same risk.  Not only would I not do that but I'm in a PCP insurance program and it's now part of my permanent record.
So it causes pain to spend too much time on the keyboard.  But I'll still be here.  If you don't see me in person, know I'm behind one of our asst managers teaching as I go, and they go about helping you.
Will I still be tagging?
Heavens yes!!!
LOL
I miss it a lot and it helps take my mind off things.
So I wanted to give you an update and fill you in on things so you won't have to guess.
All other medical things seem to be going along as planned and I'm doing extrememly well.
Move planned for next week so look for more info on that.
I'm getting excited about it!
