Man! MSN is sure slow this morning.
(this message is posted under the general bussiness message board)

Well group it looks like the 5th Comm hat project has hit the wall! I sure don't blam Red Baron for backing off the order. Lots of cash up front with few orders comming in. having to buy a 100 hats to get a good price.

Any ideas on this issue? Anyone willing to take this one on?  All the makings for a nice looking 5th comm hat are out there. Sgt. Grit has some good looking USMC hats and as i understand it he also has the embroidered 5th comm patches. We may have to break out the old sewing kit and build our own.  Each of us could take our hats to a local emboriry shop to add the G&A and dates for 5th comm Bn.

Guys,

I took the 5th Comm patch I got from Sgt. Grit over to a guy near me who has done a lot of stuff for the Marine Corps League detachment in Bowie, MD.  We hooked up again today and he says that he has someone who will embroider the 5th Comm logo on a camouflage baseball cap for about $10 ea.  That's the good news.  The bad news is that they can't be done in time for the reunion, but he can get me a prototype to wear to it so you can get a look at it.  Just look for the guy with the 5th Comm logo floating through the air (if the camouflage is that good, you won't be able to see the rest of me!).  We can wear them to the 2005 reunion and get anything else you want on it embroidered on them then, if you want to wait.  Or you can get it done before then,  I don't care about that. What I don't want to do is eat a grand I'm going to lay out for these covers, okay?

Andy,

I've had contact with a fellow who does work for the MCl det in Bowie, MD.  He can embroider the 5th Comm logo on a camouflage cover for about 10 bucks ea.  I'll be bringing the prototype to LV with me.

Guys,

We got a prototype!  I picked it up today and it looks terrific.  The guy really did a great job on the cover.  He said they do the embroidery first, then sew the front halves of the cover together so that it's smooth and there are no seams showing in the logo.  I'll wear it to the reunion and if you like it, we'll get a production run of 100 to keep the cost down.  It should come in around 10 bucks a cover in camouflage w/the 5th Comm logo in full color.  I'll take the orders and just add the cost of postage for anyone who wants one.  I can talk to my contact about getting any extra cost lettering (name, rank, dates of service w/5th Comm, "F*** Sgt. Betts", anything else you want) put on yours.
