I agree Whatie, but they hear it all the time on the telly, films, videos.  Even the girls these days.  Years ago, in books, if someone said even "Damn", there were the ****.

There's a Gilbert & Sullivan operetta (is it Pinnafore?) where someone says 'damme' and everyone has the vapours, its very funny.  BUT today's swearing is not.
The f word on TV makes me reach for the off button, to me many films - like 4 weddings - are ruined by that word and its soooo unnecessary.  DBarb

I AGREE BARB AND RAY  THERE IS NO NEED TO HAVE ALL THIS FOWL LANGUAGE ADDED TO EVERY SENTENCE THINGS CAN BE JUST AS FUNNY OR DRAMATIC WITHOUT IT.

On Jonathon Ross on Friday night  he had Halle berry on
and she was fluffing like mad.  She said she would not get away with it in America which i found hard to believe. I go in one area of Chorley and the kids as young as 4 come out and spit at me and curse like troopers .

  • Before dealing with your child's swearing behaviour both parents need to talk about their own values about swearing, what they think is OK and what they think is not OK.
  • In some families one parent swears and the other does not, or one parent disapproves of swearing while the other does not - this gives mixed messages to the children.
  • Some families think it is OK for adults to swear but not for children - and this too gives mixed messages to the children.
  • also it all depends on what they sit and watch on the television.
  • I think it has a lot to answer for nowadays.
  • I wouldnt have dared to use that f word when i was young, I would have got the strap.Thats half the trouble theses days , you can't even smack your own children, and the teachers can't disipline them anymore. So im'e glad i wont be around in the next 50 years . My god what a world it will be then. Rose

Only the other day the electric man came to read the meter., as he tapped on my door I opened it to find two little kids one about 3 and the other 4 following him around throwing stones at him and actually punching him on the legs. He said do you know who these children belong to? I said I have never even seen them on the estate ever.
He took the reading and said hopefully they are gone and as I opened the door these two little kids were shouting abuse at this old lady who was not very happy. The children then turned on the meter reader once again and I watched as they punched, kicked, and swore obscenities at him without batting an eyelid. These boys were still babies to me but obviously brought up without discipline. I blame it on to the PC brigade who says you cant chastise children for doing wrong or even look at them the wrong way anymore.

Well Sylve I'm sry to say I would have ended up in court cause there is no way I would have stood by and let this sort of thing happen. I live 4 doors away from a junior school ,the same school my kids went to, some of the todays kids walk home past my house on their way to and from school if I hear them swearing I tell them off up to now I havent had any back chat. I am on very good terms with the newer generation that live in my street I talk to them with respect and I usually get  respect back  if they come to the door with their  sponser sheets I wont give them money up front until I have had confirmation  they have done what they have been sponsered for LOL  I remember all the tricks kids get up to LOL.GINGE
