Well Twirlginger, don't get me started!
Actually, I've no gripes for my own treatment which has been adequate - but the way my MIL has been neglected, fobbed off, ignored, need I go on, has been absolutly criminal.
It seems as though old people (she is 91) are just put onto waiting lists in the hope that they'll die before they cost some money. For example, she needs a second hearing aid and has been for tests but must wait another 3 months for referral to yet another consultant: she has mild dementia and is waiting to be seen to assess whether she is suitable for aricept - no time given for the length of the delay.
Having nursed my own mother through dementia I noticed when she became more confused than usual that it could often be put down to a urinary tract infection - when MIL became double confused it took 3 weeks for a sample to be taken and analysed and a further 5 days for an antibiotic to be dispensed ...... as I say, don't get me started!
