Addressing Psoriasis - Steps to Healing This Common Disorder

By Janet Rowe of Health & Natural Lifestyles

Psoriasis is a skin condition that typically manifests as areas of thickened, flaky, silvery white and reddened skin that may hurt, itch and bleed. Elbows and knees are frequent sites of these lesions, but they may appear anywhere.

Circulating toxins from a toxic bowel and free radicals have been revealed as causes of psoriasis. It may also have an auto-immune component, such as psoriatic arthritis - a form of arthritis sometimes accompanying psoriasis that is believed to be an auto-immune disease. Typically the immune system is off balance due to dysbiosis - an abnormal bacterial and/or fungal growth in the intestine.

Psoriasis is characterized by defects in the normal cycle of skin development that lead to altered maturation of skin cells, vascular changes and inflammation. It is believed to be genetically linked but can also be triggered by mechanical, ultraviolet and chemical injury; various infections and prescription drug use. The development of psoriasis may also be the result of protein maldigestion, liver dysfunction, stressful life events leading to adrenal insufficiency, excess alcohol and animal fat consumption, constipation, essential fatty acid deficiencies and dysbiois. Intestinal dysbiosis can be linked to a variety of diseases and is often the result of insufficient digestion of proteins and carbohydrates. One study found Candida Albicans to be a trigger in the aggravation and persistence of psoriasis. The bottom line is you need to fix the dysbiosis.

Recent studies also look at the mind/body connection in psoriasis. Data from a pilot study indicated an enhanced stress-induced autonomic response and diminished pituitary-adrenal activity in psoriasis patients. The stress hormones cortisol/epinephrine are thought to trigger phases of immune deficiency and have been linked to eruptions of psoriasis.

Psoriasis is a highly complex illness with a variety of causes and exacerbating factors. The disease can be controlled effectively by addressing the factors that contribute to psoriatic symptoms such as digestive insufficiency, intestinal dysbiosis, organ/blood toxins and miasmatic tendencies.

Detoxification Program -
Cleansing the colon, kidneys and liver is essential, as is cleansing the blood of all fungus, parasites, worms, flukes, viruses and bacteria. This allows the immune system to create some balance so that you can stop the mast cells from forming. Keeping the body in an alkaline pH balance between 7.0 and 7.4 as measured through the urine is the fastest way of stopping the inflammation, itch and soreness. Bathing in sea water can also help, as can the application of essential oils.

Nutritional Supplements -
Any skin disease requires the following, but remember supplements can aggravate the skin if the body is still toxic. The first recommended supplement is vitamin A emulsion (up to 60000 IU’s per day depending on body size). I recommend this product over Beta Carotene because psoriasis a good indication that the liver is toxic and malfunctioning so it doesn’t have the capability of breaking down large quantities of Beta Carotene, whereas the vitamin A emulsion is already broken down and easier to absorb. Vitamins B, E and other nutrients such as Glutathione, selenium, quercitin and bioflavinoids are necessary for repairing and maintaining.

Secondly, an absolute essential is Essential Fatty Acids (EFA’s), such as hemp oil, flax oil, borage oil, etc., and at least 240 mg of gamma linolenic acid per day. EFA’s inhabit production and storage of arachidonic acid, a natural substance that promotes inflammatory response and makes the lesions of psoriasis turn red and swell.

Minerals are also required to ensure absorption. Normalizing of the pancreatic and liver enzymes is necessary for protein digestion and assimilation. And don’t forget to keep the large intestine cleansed and repopulated with good bacteria. In regards to "good bacteria", I prefer to use human microflora. I have seen fantastic changes in the bowel by using human microflora as it reaches the small and large intestines, and is not defeated by the stomach acid. By using the human microflora you get the exact components of humans, not bovine. Remember cattle have more stomachs and chew their food multiple times to digest it, therefore it doesn’t make sense to use cow probiotics.

Herbs are ideal for cleaning the blood, liver, kidneys, parasites, fungus, yeast and even the bowel depending on what is discover in the blood. Homeopathy is also extremely useful in detoxifying, rebuilding and even maintaining, and can be cheaper and as effective.

Recommendations -
Eat a diet that is composed of 50% raw foods and includes plenty of fruits (not citrus), organic grains (not wheat) and vegetables. Include wild fish in the diet as well. Get plenty of dietary fiber -- non-soluble fiber is critical for maintaining a healthy colon. {Note: some people with arthritic symptoms are not able to process/ digest/ assimilate whole fish or shell fish properly and may well experience intensified muscle & joint stiffness for a few days after consuming a normal serving(s) of fish - R.M.}

Avoid meats and dairy products including milk and cheese. Do not consume citrus fruits, fried foods, processed foods, saturated fats, sugar or white flour. Follow a yeast free food list for a minimum of 3 months.

Have your blood read to determine the levels of dysbiosis and seek guidance to cleansing, rebuilding and maintaining this disorder. Remember success depends on knowledge, desire, discipline and proper guidance for lasting results.

The CAUSE of PSORIASIS and other related CHRONIC DISEASES.

I really hope that you will read this article to the very end for I have to jump sometime from one subject to another, but always coming back to the main issue.

The articles that members have posted in this group confirm the discovery I have made earlier. It only proves that Psoriasis is for almost 100% inheritable. And as an iridologist I dare say that when you compare your eyes with the eyes of your parent with also psoriasis you will see that you both have almost the very same eyes. The same goes for your children, for same eyes means same body, even when you do not look the same on the outside.

It is quite normal that psoriasis and diabetes go together, but that is the TYPE 2. diabetes, not the type 1. The very reason for this is that the body of a psoriasis patient is craving for DIGESTED FAT, one of the essential food elements. As a result the body is producing a SUBSTITUTE for this missing digested fat. However the body refuses this substitute and turns it our as one of the many skin diseases that we know nowadays, such as: Acne, Eczema, Rash, Boils or PSORIASIS.
No need to say that dandruff is also one of them.

In order to understand this all better we have to go back in history some 5000 years, when the Chinese discovered the secrets of the human body. It were the Chinese who discovered that the human body has three integral parts: Mind, Body and Soul. They also discovered the 5 elements: Earth, Water, Fire, Minerals and Wood from which all matter on earth comes forth. Translated this in our daily food it is: Water, Sugar, Protein, Carbohydrates and Fat.

Another important Chinese discovery was "KI", the life energy that flow through our body and makes all our organs work properly all our life. This KI or CHI or Cosmic Energy is distributed throughout our body through a system of energy lines also called meridians, acupuncture is based on the age old knowledge. They were even able to draw a map to show the sequence in which all our 12 organ systems receive their energy turn. This map is called the "ORGANCLOCK", but unfortunately our doctors have never heard of it. Yet the fact that the organclock exists can be found in the phenomenon called "JETLAG". You can find the organclock at: http://members.lycos.nl/health2000/clock.htm

It is important that you take a good look at this clock for it tells you exactly what the real cause of your PSORIASIS and other related CHRONIC DISEASES is. You can see that when everything is in order the flow of energy is constant and in BALANCE. Called: YIN/YANG. There is no extra energy available for calamities, so when there is a problem somewhere the flow of energy will stop and trouble is apparent.

I mentioned before that our daily food consists of 5 elements: Sugar, Protein, Carbohydrates and Fat. The human pancreas consists of 4 parts: a head, a tail and two compartments in the middle. In the head the enzyme: Protease is produced for the digestion of Protein. In the middle compartments one produces Insulin for Sugar and the other Amylase for Carbohydrates. And in the Tail LIPASE is produced to digest FAT.

Our learned doctors have already discovered sometime in the past that people who cannot digest sugar have a low production of insulin and are insulin dependent diabetics. But what they are not able to diagnose and fail to research is what happen to people who have a low production of Protease or Lipase, and what the results of this shortage of enzymes really is. And here you see the very cause of your psoriasis, shortage of LIPASE to digest FAT.

As a result your body has a serious shortage of digested fat which is proven by your dry skin.
So the body decides to create a substitute, which is rejected and turned out as psoriasis.
Mind you it is normally not the FAT from vegetarian sources, but always the very hard to digest ANIMAL FAT. This UNDIGESTED FAT keeps circulating in the bloodstream and passes the LIVER each time. There it is regarded as FOOD and not as waste, but the body cannot use it, so it stays in the bloodstream until the body decides to put it away and store it someplace.

Where your body stores this undigested fat depends largely on the flow of energy and which organ system is short of energy to defend itself against the dumping of this undigested fat.

There are quite a number of CHRONIC DISEASES, such as: Arthritis, Infertility, Child Loss and Miscarriage, Asthma, Bronchitis, IBS and Crohn disease. But also Parkinson disease, M.S., Depression, Anxiety attacks, High Blood pressure and High Cholesterol.

I hope you will understand that this UNDIGESTED FAT is a heavy burden on the LIVER and also on the GALLBLADDER. (Most psoriasis patients had a gallbladder operation) That's why these two organ systems need a lot of extra energy and I already told you that extra energy is not available within the organclock system. So their best chance to get extra energy is to STEAL it from the neighbors: The HORMONAL system, The LUNG system and the COLON. Since the energy in one of these areas is being stolen they cease to operate properly and all chronic diseases in these areas result from this.

The hormonal system contains: OVARY, THYROID, IMMUNE system and WOMB among others. And here is the very reason for miscarriages, menstruation problems, infertility, cancer, overweight, chronic sinus infections, and what else have we.
The lung system contains: LUNGS, BRONCHI and Air pipe. And here we have the cause for Bronchitis, Asthma and also lung cancer.

The colon is a story in itself, since doctors think that it is something in the colon that makes them spastic. The news for people with IBS and Crohn is that the muscles on the outside of the colon are supposed to take care of the peristaltic movements. However, as a result from the stolen energy the area has become energetically weak and ready to be used as dumping place for the undigested fat. The TENDONS of the colon muscles have ARTHRITIS and cannot make these peristaltic moves anymore or with a lot of pain. The bowels don't move anymore as they are supposed to do and this is called IBS or Crohns but will eventually also end up as colon cancer.

And believe it or not: All of this THANKS to our ill-educated doctors, who'd rather study the medications to treat the symptoms than to go out of their way to find the real cause of the underlying problems, so it can be cured.

I know for a fact that most Caucasian psoriasis patients will have BLUE EYES !!! At least they were once BLUE and we all know that the real color of FAT is WHITE. So when you want to prove  what I have mentioned above take another good look at your own eyes or have someone do it for you and you will notice that over the blue of the iris there is a layer of white, which makes the eyes more grayish/white. This is the purest proof that all this UNDIGESTED fat is sitting in all the cells of your body and in most cases the outside rim, will have more of this gray than the inside. In iridology the outside rim represents the skin.

The difference between regular medicine which your doctor practices and alternative medicine what I have been practicing for over 25 years, is that you doctor studied medications that will treat the disease so you stop complaining to him. He may send you to a specialist who has a few more medication in his arsenal, but even those are only meant to make you stop complaining and to make to learn to live with the problems.

In alternative medicine we like to know what your problems are so we can use them as a starting point to trace back and find the real cause. And in treating the cause and eliminating this from you daily diet, you also take away the strain on your organ systems. That way you body quite capable to heal itself gets a fair chance to do so. But when we keep adding FAT or PROTEIN or SUGAR or CARBOHYDRATES that the body cannot deal with, your body never gets a chance to heal itself and that's why you have to suffer these chronic diseases for which your doctor has no cure. Better yet: He doesn't even know the cause of Psoriasis, IBS or Asthma, believe me and check any medical book you can lay your hands on. I love to hear that you found different.

But there is much, much more to say about all this, however this varies from person to person since we are all kind of unique in ourselves. Therefore I cannot say more here since this was just general information,  .............

You can cure yourself, without medication, and without crème and ointments, it is just a matter of discipline in doing the right thing. Do not expect a cure that heals overnight, what took years to develop will take the same number of month to heal. Trust me.

Kind regards, JOHN M. VOS, Naturopathic physician/Iridologist.

I've looked into iridology & Naturopathic healing a good bit & found this article - taken directly from another MSN Msg board, by J.M.Vos.     I think he has some very interesting points to make.  so I'm passing it along here.
