Get Some Sun Even On A Cloudy Day
By Victoria
Feeling a little down since the sun went away? You will want to check out one of these full spectrum lights that will give you what you need until the sun shines brightly again at...
Why do you need sun anyway?
"Your hypothalamus and pituitary glands require unfiltered sunlight in order to regulate your appetite, sleep, body temperature, sexual functions, water balance, and hormones, many of which regulate body nutrients. All living things need to be exposed daily to sunlight. If a plant cannot grow healthy in its environment, then, in the same environment, neither will you. The human body should have at least one hour of unfiltered (preferably no windows or eyeglasses) sunlight every day." --Robert R. Barefoot, Dr. Carl J. Reich, M.D. A commercial site, however some of the findings are intriguing :
| Lighting for Schools - Why you should change your school lighting
Excerpt from article: "In the classrooms with full-spectrum lighting, however, behavior and classroom performance, as well as overall academic achievement, improved markedly within one month after the new lights were installed. Furthermore, several learning-disabled children with extreme hyperactivity problems miraculously calmed down and seemed to overcome some of their learning and reading problems while in classrooms with full-spectrum lighting." | read full article, click here

| Stress at Work: Full spectrum lighting helps relieve stress at the work place.
Excerpt from article: "As more employers implement full spectrum lighting in the workplace, more and more companies will experience the economic success that Control Data in Sunnyvale, California experienced when they made the switch. Following their $15,000 investment in full spectrum lighting for their data processing center, Control Data’s error reduction rate increased so dramatically after the first year that their profits increased by a significant $225,000. Other companies report improved employee morale, greater productivity, better quality control, error reduction rate, and reduced absenteeism" | read full article, click here

| What is the true definition of full spectrum light? Balanced color and optical clarity.
Excerpt from article: "When you simulate light that matches the optical brilliance of sunlight the pupils in the eyes will become smaller. This response generates clearer vision and higher perception. The results are lower glare and eye fatigue. When you can combine lux intensity with high CRI and balanced Kelvin temp you will have quality light that not only matches the optical brilliance of the sun, but reduces levels of melatonin and the stress hormone, cortisol." | read full article, click here

| Why use full spectrum light? General benefits of full spectrum lighting.
Excerpt from article: "There is convincing research that poor lighting environments can produce increased depression and even result in more severe cases called S.A.D. or "Seasonal Affective Disorder." This problem increases more and more as the winter months bring shorter and shorter days. "Sunlight Starvation" also affects millions more in the form of a milder version called the "Winter Blues"." | read full article, click here

| Full Spectrum Lighting-Critical for Light Therapy Find out why its better!
Excerpt from article: "Daytime vision is made effective by the use of narrow "rods" in the eyes. We see objects as light is reflected off of each object. The brighter the light the more we can see. The more we can see the greater the requirement for clarity and contrast. This is done by the superior quality of full spectrum lighting. Full spectrum lighting duplicates the visible wavelengths of sunlight at noon and uses both high clarity and balanced color phosphors.

Yeaah, for sunlight ! I feel the best when I can get out in the fresh air & sun during the day, too. I'm glad you feel better for getting out, it can help. However I know you've really had your share of challenges & disappointments in the last several weeks, ones that are bound to leave a person feeling rather down or empty ! I have some sort of major challenges that are keeping me inside most of the time lately, too & I'm finding it frustrating. I'll send you some healing energies. |
