Mine, meh, its going ok. The job this is better because even though my company that I have been at for 9 years is going under they asked me to stay on in the transition team so I have guaranteed job until June. So that is a bonus. Most people are already gone. interview the other day that I posted about went ok, I got the job, but the pay was absurd. No way. Hows you? |

So Bekka, did you take the job? You say "I got the job", then "no way". I'm doing great, loving my new life, never have to work again! Unless I want to get something part-time if I get bored, but so far, not bored at all. |

I did get the job, but i didnt take the job, the pay was so low I couldnt afford to live on it. and since I am here for several months more than I had expected going to stick with this income until I find something else that is better pay. It was a joke what they offered me. Glad you are doing well :) 09... a good year! |

It's starting to look like less a 'new' year and more an 'old' one, since a lot seems unchanged, lol. But I'm extremely hopeful anyway. I knew 08 would be tough, but I also know that 09 is going to be very good, so I'm going to stick with that. I don't blame you for not accepting a job that offers less than you can live on, especially when you've got the next 6 months pretty secure. By June, I think things will have picked up enough that you shouldn't have as difficult a time finding something substantial. I'm looking for a second part-time job right now myself, but....not much around here at all these days. |

maybe you'll earn favor with the new company during transition but don't for long scoff at lower pay since oftentimes when workers accept a lower-paying job at a new company they can move up rapidly to their old level or higher so long as your work impressively |

Yeh smig I know the feeling, it took me a few weeks to get a call back for one, and I got the one that I didn't want. Jobs are scarce, but as you said, maybe things will turn around in a few months and we will all be rolling in it :) Glad 09 is starting good for you, cant believe we are already in the second week of Jan already, seems like i was just getting shit faced and screaming happy new year! maybe you'll earn favor with the new company during transition I wish that was the case, but its Fidelity National and they are in Jacksonville FL, not really looking to move right now even though I was raised in Tampa. I love FL but right now my home and life is in VA, so if they offered me something to sign on and move it would have to be substantial and I dont think Fidelty can do that. Boo. Oh well. It was our CEO's fault who dragged a 150 year old company to the ground. It was nice seeing him boxed up the other day though :) |

It was our CEO's fault who dragged a 150 year old company to the ground. Yeah, there's a lot of that going around these days. If I was 50 years older, I'd probably think I was simply flashing back on the days of Mellon, Rockefeller, Morgan and all those other 'robber barons' whose greed went unchecked. If only we had a modern-day Teddy Roosevelt..... I know Arnie's having a lot of problems putting together a budget package for CA that everyone can agree on. Our unemployment rate is expected to reach 9% this month (actually, I thought it already had). |

i didn't know you were a fellow Tampan, bekka---where'd you go to school? or what part? smig, well there's good news if Meg Whitman can succeed in winning the governorship of your state---she's an ace |

Actually, I'm liking Arnie. Never thought I'd be able to take him seriously at all as our Governor, I thought the whole ousting of Davis and the replacement election were a joke, and I certainly didn't take an actor-cum-politico seriously. But I find I agree with much of what he says. Who'da thunk it, lol? He explained yesterday why he didn't pass the proposed budget and I'm with him on it. He doesn't want to raise the taxes they were calling for, and he does have to make some cuts or we won't even have a boat in that proverbial creek. It must be that voice, the promise of security and safety..... Come with me if you want to live. |

Yeh smig we were one of the best mortgage title companies in the industry, first title was done in 1800 something :) it has made through recessions before, and this guy came on board a few years ago, decided to put lots of our money in these companies that sucked our money dry so when the mortgage crisis hit we went under, and were purchased. If he never did these ventures which the board urged him not to do, we would have been fine. Now right now we have laid off thousands, and only about 200 are left for transition team. Luckily, I am one of them, but only until June. It just burns me up that it happened. I really liked this place. Yep torty from Tampa, dad got transferred to VA beach when I was in the 9th grade. I was at private school through most of my middle school days, but in elementary I was in public. Loved the area, visited last year because some of my fam still lives there. I am used to VA life now, so it is a different environment that I am accustom. I wouldnt be opposed to be transferring back like I said with the right money because I do like that I have fam there, and roots, but, they aren't coming up with the bank for really anybody. Most people they have offered to go to FL are VP level and above. I am not one of those :) |
