I go back to work right after thanksgiving and promised myself i would nurse that far, and then i could quit. just don't feel like pumping at work, its ridiculous. and i[m sick of the whole breasyfeeding scene. that i made it this far is nothing short of phemoninal. so, o experienced ones, any suggestions for the least painful way to dry up? |

So sorry that I didn't see this sooner. Did you try to eliminate a few feedings a day or are you going cold turkey? The way that I did it was that I eliminated a mid morning and mid afternoon feeding first and started eliminating more until I was only nursing first thing in the morning then last thing at night. This would relieve any pressure that I had so that I could be comfortable. Then you can take away those too. |

I've been slowly doing less and less for the last two weeks, but on Sunday I finally cut cold turkey and it was brutal all Monday and Tuesday. Tonight I'm seeing the light, they're down in size and have stopped aching, so I cracked open a beer to celebrate. LOL My first beer in eleven months, I can't believe I'm even saying that! |

i don't remember the drying up being painful...but i do know my friend who works full tim adjusted her milk so her baby ate formula during the day and drank her milk at night and the weekends.......she said it takes a while to adjust but it just works out that way......you give what you take......i always wished i tried it.....cause i think i stopped too early.........but i also remember the first couple weeks being horrid......scabby breasts and all of that........but yeah.......ive heard it can work "part time"......and if you want avidly i can ask her exactly how that was done... |

I'm almost done, they don't hurt anymore, just leak once in awhile. I might have to go bra shopping all over again, I don't seem to fit into any of my old ones, can't tell if I'm bigger or smaller, I just know I don't fit. |

Had my 6 week check up this morning, and told her I had finished nursing. I showed her a pic of Dylan and mentioned he had doubled his birth weight already to 12 pounds. She gasped and said "What? No wonder you gave up nursing! I bet you couldn't keep up!"
okay, so I guess that's why I hated nursing so much, my son is a little piggie. LOL |
