Found this story online. Creeps me out.
Roommate's Doppelganger by Phy One
It was winter, 1968. I was a sophomore at a university in Tennessee. I saw my roommate's doppelganger. I'm not positive, but I think this doppelganger crossed over from a parallel universe... merely because she looked, well - evil, a look unlike my friend Jackie, who was sweet. The doppelganger smiled at me with a twist to her lips, I would call a smirk.
Back in 1968, I had never heard of a doppelganger... so I actually thought I was looking at Jackie. She had the same clothes that Jackie was wearing and she limped, as Jackie had been doing all week because of a sore rubbed on her heel by her shoe. She had a bandage on. The doppelganger had a bandage on.
Let me start at the minute I saw her. Jackie and I were sitting in the TV room in the basement with one other girl. It was the weekend. The campus was vacated. At one point, Jackie got up from the couch, said something, and left the room. A minute later, the TV started to mess up. (Remember horizontal hold?) I waited for the other girl to fix it, but when she stayed seated, I got up to do it. The TV was across the room near the windows that looked out onto the patio. A movement caught my eye.
I looked out and saw Jackie stepping down onto the patio from the steps that led down to it. I was surprised. It was freezing outside. Jackie didn't have on a coat. Besides, we never used the patio during winter. The doors to it from the basement were chained. The only other way to get there was to go upstairs and out the front doors and around the building in circuitous route. I said, "What is Jackie doing out there on the patio?" No sooner than the words left my mouth, the door opened and Jackie walked into the TV room. And for a second, I was looking at two Jackies!
I was disoriented. When I came to myself on the couch, I told Jackie what I saw. Where was she? "I was in the bathroom," she said. I asked the other girl, did she see it? She said, no, but I heard you say what was Jackie doing out there. This incident affected me deeply, and Jackie eventually was assigned to another dorm.
I believe Jackie was supposed to see herself that day, but I intercepted. A professor told me it was an ill omen to me, but I rather believe, of the things I've since learned about the doppelganger, it was trying to replace Jackie. |

A professor told me it was an ill omen to me What the heck is that supposed to mean? Sounds like the prof is full o' beans, lol. Cool story though. I'm sure I heard something similar to that once upon a time. Something very familiar about it. |

I looked up doppelganger on Wikapedia and there's a forklore that seeing your doppleganger is a bad omen to yourself, but I don't know about a third party. :-S
I've never asked Donna about doppelgangers, I'm curious what she'd have to say. |
