This is a reading he did concerning the Great Pyramids and the Sphynx.

This Reading given by Edgar Cayce July 1st 1932.

1. EC: Much has been written respecting that represented in the Great Pyramid, and the record that may be read by those who would seek to know more concerning the relationships that have existed, that may exist, that do exist, between those of the Creative Forces that are manifest in the material world. As indicated, there were periods when a much closer relationship existed, or rather should it be said, there was a much better understanding OF the relationship that EXISTS between the creature and the Creator.

2. In those conditions that are signified in the way through the pyramid, as of periods through which the world has passed and is passing, as related to the religious or the spiritual experiences of man - the period of the present is represented by the low passage or depression showing a downward tendency, as indicated by the variations in the character of stone used. This might be termed in the present as the Cruciatarian Age, or that in which preparations are being made for the beginning of a new sub-race, or a change, which - as indicated from the astronomical or numerical conditions - dates from the latter portion or middle portion of the present fall [1932]. In October there will be a period in which the benevolent influences of Jupiter and Uranus will be stronger, which - from an astrological viewpoint - will bring a greater interest in occult or mystic influences.

3. At the correct time accurate imaginary lines can be drawn from the opening of the great Pyramid to the second star in the Great Dipper, called Polaris or the North Star. This indicates it is the system toward which the soul takes it flight after having completed its sojourn through this solar system. In October there will be seen the first variation in the position of the polar star in relation to the lines from the Great Pyramid. The dipper is gradually changing, and when this change becomes noticeable - as might be calculated from the Pyramid - there will be the beginning of the change in the races. There will come a greater influx of souls from the Atlantean, Lemurian, La, Ur or Da civilizations. These conditions are indicated in this turn in the journey through the pyramid. 4. How was this begun? Who was given that this should be a record of man's experiences in this root race? for that is the period covered by the prophecies in the pyramid. This was given to Ra and Hermes in that period during the reign of Araaraart when there were many who sought to bring to man a better understanding of the close relationship between the Creative Forces and that created, between man and man, and man and his Maker.

5. Only those who have been called may truly understand. Who then has been called? Whosoever will make himself a channel may be raised to that of a blessing that is all that entity-body is able to comprehend. Who, having his whole measure full, would desire more does so to his own undoing.

6. (Q) What are the correct interpretations of the indications in the Great Pyramid regarding the time when the present depression will end?
(A) The changes as indicated and outlined are for the latter part of the present year [1932]. As far as depression is concerned, this is not - as in the minds of many - because fear has arisen, but rather that, when fear has arisen in the hearts of the created, SIN lieth at the door. Then, the change will occur - or that seeking will make the definite change - in the latter portion of the present year. Not that times financially will be better, but the minds of the people will be fitted to the conditions better.

7. (Q) What was the date of the actual beginning and ending of the construction of the Great Pyramid?
(A) Was one hundred years in construction. Begun and completed in the period of Araaraart's time, with Hermes and Ra.

8. (Q) What was the date B.C. of that period?
(A) 10,490 to 10,390 before the Prince entered into Egypt.

9. (Q) What definite details are indicated as to what will happen after we enter the period of the King's Chamber?
(A) When the bridegroom is at hand, all do rejoice. When we enter that understanding of being in the King's presence, with that of the mental seeking, the joy, the buoyancy, the new understanding, the new life, through the period.

10. (Q) What is the significance of the empty sarcophagus?
(A) That there will be no more death. Don't misunderstand or misinterpret! but the INTERPRETATION of death will be made plain.

11. (Q) If the Armageddon is foretold in the Great Pyramid, please give a description of it and the date of its beginning and ending.
(A) Not in what is left there. It will be as a thousand years, with the fighting in the air, and - as has been - between those returning to and those leaving the earth.

12. (Q) What will be the type and extent of the upheaval in '36?
(A) The wars, the upheavals in the interior of the earth, and the shifting of same by the differentiation in the axis as respecting the positions from the Polaris center.

13. (Q) Is there not a verse of scripture in Isaiah mentioning the rock on which the great pyramid is builded?
(A) Not as we find; rather the rock on which John VIEWED the New Jerusalem - that is, as of the entering in the King's Chamber in the Pyramid.

14. (Q) What is the date, as recorded by the Pyramid, of entering in the King's Chamber?
(A) '38 to '58.

15. (Q) If the Passion of Jesus is recorded in the Great Pyramid, please give the date according to our present system of recording time?
(A) This has already been presented in a fair and equitable manner through those students of same, and these descriptions have been presented as to their authenticity.

16. (Q) How was this particular Great Pyramid of Gizeh built?
(A) By the use of those forces in nature as make for iron to swim. Stone floats in the air in the same manner. This will be discovered in '58.

17. (Q) What is the significance of the character of the figure of the Sphinx, mentioned above?
(A) In this particular period of Araaraart and of the priest (that began those understandings - and passed through those of the hell in the misinterpretation of same), there was even then the seeking through those channels that are today called archaeological research.

In those periods when the first change had come in the position of the land, there had been an egress of peoples - or THINGS, as would be called today - from the Atlantean land, when the Nile (of Nole, then) emptied into what is now the Atlantic Ocean, on the Congo end of the country. What is now as the Sahara was a fertile land, a city that was builded in the edge of the land, a city of those that worshipped the sun - for the use of its rays were used for supplying from the elements that which is required in the present to be grown through a season; or the abilities to use both those of introgression and retrogression - and mostly retrograded, as we are in the present.

The beginnings of these mounds were as an interpretation of that which was crustating in the land. (See, most of the people had tails then!) In those beginnings these were left. When there was the entrance of Arart and Araaraart, they begin to build upon those mounds which were discovered through research. With the storehouse, or record house (where the records are still to be uncovered), there is a chamber or passage from the right forepaw to this entrance of the record chamber, or record tomb. This may not be entered without an understanding, for those that were left as guards may NOT be passed until after a period of their regeneration in the Mount, or the fifth root race begins. In the building of the pyramid, and that which is now called the Mystery of Mysteries [the Sphinx], this was intended to be a MEMORIAL - as would be termed today - to that counsellor who ruled or governed, or who acted in the capacity of the director in the MATERIAL things in the land.

With the return of the priest (as it had been stopped), this was later - by Isis, the queen, or the daughter of Ra - turned so as to present to those peoples in that land the relationships of man and the animal or carnal world with those changes that fade or fall away in their various effect. These may be seen in a different manner presented in many of the various sphinxes, as called, in other portions of the land - as the lion with the man, the various forms of wing, or characterizations in their various developments. These were as presentations of those projections that had been handed down in their various developments of that which becomes man - as in the present.

18. We are through.

Instead of posting a full biography, I'll just say that Nostradamus was a healer and a seer during a time when he had to veil his quatrains with a mixture of languages, play-on-words, anagrams, and sometimes odd descriptions of things he saw that were so completely foreign to him (such as pilots, wearing gas masks, flying airplanes - what would that look like to one who'd seen nothing like it?).

 

The "quatrains" are little verses - which contain his description of his visions, often half will apply to one thing and the other half applying to yet another event - and they're collected into what are called the "Centuries".

 

Ok, enough background, even though it's scant. Want to move forward.

 

Seems that several of his quatrains apply to the "new world" (us) and many are about our leaders. There are a couple about the Kennedys, for example. And one about John-John's plane accident as well.

 

A lot of people see Bush Jr. in a couple and I tend to agree with these depictions:

 

D'vn chef vieillard naistre sens hebeté
Degenerant par sçauoir & par armes,
Le chef de France par sa soeur redouté,
Champs diuisez, concedez aux gens gendarmes.

There are different translations, but they're all pretty similar:

To an old leader will be born an idiot heir,
Weak both in knowledge and in war.
The leader of France is feared by his sister,
Battlefields divided, conceded to the soldiers. (don't know who's translation this is)

OR

To an old chief will be born one with dull senses
Degenerate both in knowledge and in weapons:
The chief of France feared by his sister,
Fields divided, conceded to the soldiers on horses. (John Hogue's interpretation - very respected Nostradamus interpreter, I have one or two of his books)

OR

To a leader will be born an idiot heir,
Weak both in knowledge and in warfare.
The head of France is feared by his sister,
Battlefields divided, conceded to the military. (Erika Cheetham's interpretation - she was my first introduction to Nostradamus)

However you look at it (and we're only concerned with the first two lines here), they seem to be saying the same thing. A lot of people see this as applicable to Bush Jr.

Another one attributed to him:

(First in 16th-Century French)

Vn dubieux ne viendra loing du regne,
La plus grand part le voudra soustenir:
Vn Capitole ne voundra point qu'il regne,
Sa grande change ne pourra maintenir.

(In English)

A doubtful one will not come far from the realm,
The greater part will want to support him:
A Capitol, will not want him to rule at all,
His great burden he will not be able to maintain.

 

One reason I wanted to post this one is to illustrate how Nostradamus used words often times to refer to something indirectly. And instead of trying to paraphrase what John Hogue so intelligently defined, I'll just post what he had to say from his site:

Nostradamus had a passion for hiding major historical figures behind their nicknames, especially if the nickname draws a wicked pun in old French. He only used the word "dubieux" (dubious or doubtful one) and its variant "dubieuse" once in over 36,000 words of his major prophetic work about the future of the world. The rarity is significant. It brings interpretive pressure to bare on its application to one important person in his future history, rather than using this word generally. An obscure Nostradamus prophecy becomes clear when an interpreter uses the right word as a key that unlocks its secrets. The word "dubieux/dubieuse" unlocks two quatrains (6 Q13 and 6 Q95) revealing a similar theme of two leaders, a father and son, and their checkered destinies. Are these the father--former President George Herbert Walker Bush (1988-1992)--and his son, George W. Bush?

This leader, at least from Nostradamus' point of view is a doubtful and dubious one. That means he is someone that bears the burden of illegitimacy in the seat of power. He could be one untrained and unprepared for the job thrust to him by means or the fate of being born the scion of either a royal or political dynasty. He is a "doubtful" man expected to follow his father to the seat of power who is less equipped emotionally and intellectually for the job. It is someone who could have great visions without a grasp of reality to see them fulfilled.. It is true, that many of these caveats can be applied to a whole assortment of mediocre or ill-starred leaders since Nostradamus composed these lines sometime in 1556. Indeed this prophecy was applied by me in 1997 to a great though flawed leader, President Richard Nixon, and the Watergate scandal in my book Nostradamus: The Complete Prophecies.

A good Nostradamus scholar is ever ready to consider new possibilities, especially if those include a word or phrase that matches a unique slang term or nickname. Until "W" or "Dubiya" Bush became president of the United States there had not been ANYONE whose name phonetically matched the word "dubieux" so closely!

Many sympathetic supporters of President G.W. Bush have written to me over the last four years arguing that this prophecy better applies itself to the man Bush defeated in the disputed (doubtful) vote count in Florida 2000, Al Gore. I would have agreed with them if it was not for the near-perfect phonetic match for Bush's nickname--Dubiya--with "dubieux."

A highly contentious debate in America over Bush's legitimacy as a leader has only intensified in four years, yet so has his support. A sight majority of Americans believe Bush is a bold leader in war. He is a man of God in the White House and a compassionate conservative poised to revolutionize the country. However, to that half of the United States and the majority of the world that sees him as a dangerous, unilateralist "cowboy" president, they might find support in Nostradamus' pun for "dubious" Dubiya. His detractors will remind us of Bush's record breaking deficit spending, his cutting taxes by trillions of dollars just when the nation finds itself needing to finance and fight a global world war of terrorism. One might call the president dubious for diverting US forces away from seeking and destroying the perpetrator of such a war--al-Qaeda and Usama bin Laden hiding in Afghanistan--to invade Iraq. Is it not "dubious" to invade a country that has not attacked the US in the war on terror? If I invaded a country, cut tax revenue while draining the coffers of the nation by hundreds of billions of dollars--several billion a month--without any exit strategy, or post war strategy plan, would you not call me a doubtful one? It is nearly two years since Bush led America into Iraq. After a brief war and the violence of the endless post "liberation" period, 100,000 Iraqis had been killed. They are mostly civilians. Another 1,400 American soldiers have been killed and nearly 12,000 wounded in a subsequent insurrection for which Bush and his administartion never planned. But if the butcher's bill for this war is not proof enough of doubtful leadership, we recently find out from the Bush administration that his original reason for killing and maiming all those people actually never existed. The grounds for going to war, ridding Iraq of weapons of mass destruction, was a fluke. It is official. There are no weapons.

 

There is more on his site, but this post is seriously long as it is, lol (as are most of 'em). But I wanted to show this, not only because it's very relevant for today - not yesterday or a proposed future, but today - but to give you an idea as to how to read and understand Nostradamus, as well as what some interpreters see.

A current "futurist", Gordon-Michael Scallion, from New Hampshire, has had some successes - he predicted the election of Bush Sr. as well as the '94 Northridge quake (and other things), and has also predicted things pertaining to deadly floods, rampaging tornados, sweeping plagues, and devastating (10 point and higher) quakes on the west coast. (eek)

 

He's also created a map of what we'll look like circa 2012 when the world is flooded. And predicted a pole shift to occur between 1998 and 2001 (doesn't appear that it happened), also he says that in 2255, people will live 150 years.

4-Quake Scenario Update

I received 56 letters on my 4-Quake Scenario in the past two days alone asking for an update to my 4-Quake Scenario, which states that if a quake with a magnitude 7.0 or greater hits Japan, then within weeks, or at most two months, a second similar quake in magnitude would hit the Indian Ocean region, followed by another similar quake within weeks, or at most two months, in South America or Mexico, and finally a forth quake of similar magnitude would hit the West Coast of America, again within weeks at most within two months.

 

Here is what is unfolding regarding my 4-Quake Scenario; On August 16 a magnitude 7.2 earthquake hit Honshu Japan. This began a new 4-Quake Scenario. Then within weeks on September 9, 2005, a second quake measuring magnitude 7.7 hit Papua New Guinea in the New Ireland Region. This was the second quake in my 4-Quake Scenario. I am now looking for the third quake to hit South America or Mexico this month or early next month. Should this occur, then I believe there is a better than 50% chance that a quake greater than magnitude 7.0 will hit the West Coast of America this year. The location and exact timing of such a quake is unknown at this time. Updates as I receive them.

The following legend of the Keetoowah people, which dates back to the beginning of time, has been passed orally by each generation.

Upon the creation of the Keetoowah people, the Creator gave them mysterious powers and placed them in large settlement on an island located in the Atlantic Ocean. There were other tribes on the island which attacked the Keetoowah people. Another tribe watched the fierce fighting from a mountain top. The leader of the tribe watched the valley ascend toward the Heaven. The smoke divided into three paths midway in the ascension an eagle was seen holding three arrows in its claws. The leader asked his warriors if the smoke and eagle were visible to them and they replied they were. The tribal leader then told his warriors not to attack the Keetoowah people because they were the Creator's people, and they were very powerful. The tribe came down from the mountain and made friends with the Keetoowah people.

In later years, some of the medicine men of the tribe became selfish and used their powers to harm their own people. The Creator gave the powers to the medicine men to be used in the best interest of all the people. Other tribal members prayed to the Creator for direction and the Creator heard their prayers. The instruction was to move their fire away from the island and the medicine men. After the departure, the island sank into the ocean.

The people migrated north and settled in the southeastern part of what is now the United States. Many years later, again the medicine men became selfish and committed crimes against their own tribal members. The people gathered to discuss the solution to this problem, and it was decided that seven medicine men, one from each of the seven clans, would travel to a mountain top and pray. The seven medicine men went up to the mountain top and prayed. Soon a messenger from the Creator appeared and told them the Creator had heard their prayers and had great sympathy for them. The messenger told the medicine men their tribe would be called "Keetoowah" from that day forward.

The messenger revealed to them that a "white ball" would arrive from the east which would be an enemy to the people. The grandchildren of the Keetoowahs would point their feet to the west and great hardship would be placed upon them at the edge of the prairie. Their blood and families would be divided, and the enemy would not respect the Keetoowah people. The messenger revealed that a young leader would lead the Keetoowah people back to the east. However, if the Keetoowah people chose not to follow the Creator's direction, they would continue further west to a sea of water and disappear forever. The Creator said, "If the Keetoowah people are destroyed or become extinct, then the end of the world will follow."

The United Keetoowah Band of Cherokees are the only landless tribe in this country. This recognition is based on Congressional legislation, Bureau of Indian Affairs policies and the Federal Courts rulings made over the past several years. They have all ruled the Keetoowahs do not have a land base or a jurisdiction area.

The only alternative the Keetoowahs had was to move away from Oklahoma. This is what prompted the Keetoowahs to request the BIA to approve the UKB to establish a land base outside of Oklahoma and back to the east in Arkansas. The BIA central office in Washington DC gave approval on June 23, 1994 to establish a land base outside of Oklahoma into Arkansas. The Keetoowahs now have established a land base and also an office in Waldron, Arkansas.

Now, based on what you have heard, is the move back to the east purely by accident, or is this according to the prophecy?

I'm really fascinated by the Native American prophecies for two reasons. One is that these are isolated tribes whose medicine men had these visions, but it's not like they all got together and shared it. You can look at Christian prophecies and those from Westerners, but they are such a collective that as time has marched on, these masses of people could have impacted the oral (and even written) histories of these things, not to mention they're heavily influenced by everything around them, not just their own little "tribe". So the Native Americans had these visions separately and apart from each other, yet there are frequent similarities to them.

 

The other reason I'm so fascinated by them is that they happened right here, in this land where I live, so anything they may have seen about the future is more likely to impact me than anything seers in the Eastern Hemisphere may have predicted. imho

 

 

Mother Shipton's Complete Prophecies

Mother Shipton (circa 1486-1561) was a legendary English witch and soothsayer, known as the Yorkshire Sibyl. She is supposed to have been born at Dropping Well, Knaresborough, Yorkshire, in about the year 1486. No biographical information concerning her is based upon trustworthy sources.

An early account of her life says that she was christened Janet Ursula by the abbot of Beverly. Her surname was reportedly Southill. Her mother, Agatha, was reputed to be a witch. An 18th century biographer described her appearance in these words: "Her stature was larger than common, her body crooked, her face frightful, but her understanding extraordinary."

An ancient Scottish chronicle reports that her entrance into the world was attended by "various wonderful presages."

"A raven croaked upon the chimney top; an extraordinary noise was heard about the house for several nights before; and a violent storm of thunder and rain was the immediate precursor of her arrival.

"It was also observed that as soon as she was born, she fell a grinning and laughing, after a jeering manner, and immediately the tempest ceased."

She is supposed to have married a builder named Tony Shipton in 1512, from whom she took the name by which she has been known to posterity. It is said that Nother Shipton died at Clifton, Yorkshire, in 1561. For a number of years priot to 1839, a wax effigy of the Yorkshire Sibyl stood in Westminster Abbey, along with those of other noted persons.

The source of man's new dynasty.

This is then held year by year
Till an iron monster trembling fear
Eats parchment, words and quill and ink
And mankind is given time to think.

And only when this comes to be
Will mankind read this prophecy
But one man's sweet's another's bane
So I shall not have burned in vain.

The signs will be there for all to read
When man shall do most heinous deed
Man will ruin kinder lives
By taking them as to their wives.
And murder foul and brutal deed
When man will only think of greed.

And man shall walk as if asleep
He does not look -- he many not peep
And iron men the tail shall do
And iron cart and carriage too.

The kings shall false promise make
And talk just for talking's sake
And nations plan horrific war
The like as never seen before.
And taxes rise and lively down
And nations wear perpetual frown.

Yet greater sign there be to see
As man nears latter century.
Three sleeping mountains gather breath
And spew out mud, and ice and death.
And earthquakes swallow town and town,
In lands as yet to me unknown.

And Christian one fights Christian two
And nations sigh, yet nothing do
And yellow men great power gain
From mighty bear with whom they've lain.

These mighty tyrants will fail to do
They fail to split the world in two.
But from their acts a danger bred
An ague -- leaving many dead.

And physics find no remedy
For this is worse than leprosy.
Oh many signs for all to see
The truth of this true prophecy.

Prophecies of the King of Agharti

For many centuries, the mysterious and mystical tradition of Agharti and its ruler, the King of the World, has existed in Tibet and Mongolia. Agharti is believed by many to be a real world existing under the high plateau in the mountains of Central Asia. It is said to be a series of huge caverns with secret entrances all over the earth. Ancient tribes sometimes entered and have maintained a hidden civilization to this very day. This underground version of Shangri-la still exists, according to belief, and, whenever the King of the World makes prophecies, the birds and animals on the surface suddenly become silent. Hundreds of years ago, the King of the World uttered a prophecy which, counting from the time it was purportedly given, falls, as do so many other predictions, within the latter part of the 20th Century.

"Men will increasingly neglect their souls. The greatest corruption will reign on earth. Men will become like bloodthirsty animals, thirsting for the blood of their brothers. The crescent [Islam?] will become obscured, and its followers will descend into lies and perpetual warfare. The crowns of kings will fall.

"There will be terrible war between all the earth's peoples; entire nations will die -- hunger, crimes unknown to law, formerly unthinkable to the world. The persecuted will demand the attention of the whole world. The ancient roads will be filled with multitudes going from one place to another. The greatest and most beautiful cities will perish by fire. Families will be dispersed; faith and love will disappear. The world will be emptied.

"Within fifty years there will be only three great nations. Then, within fifty years, there will be 18 years of war and cataclysms. Then the peoples of Agharti will leave their subterranean caverns and will appear on the surface of the earth."

I do not know whether it is owing to the anxiety of my mind, or what, but this afternoon, as I was sitting at this table engaged in preparing a dispatch, something seemed to disturb me. Looking up, I beheld standing opposite me a singularly beautiful female. So astonished was I, for I had given strict orders not to be disturbed, that it was some moments before I found language to inquire into the cause of her presence.

A second, a third, and even a fourth time did I repeat my question, but received no answer from my mysterious visitor except a slight raising of her eyes. I would have risen, but the riveted gaze of the being before me rendered volition impossible. I assayed once more to address her, but my tongue had become useless, even thought itself had become paralyzed. A new influence, mysterious, potent, irresistible, took possession of me. All I could do was to gaze steadily, vacantly at my unknown visitor.

Gradually, the surrounding atmosphere seemed as though becoming filled with sensations and luminous. Everything about me seemed to rarefy, the mysterious visitor herself becoming more airy, and yet more distinct to my sight than before. I now began to feel as one dying, or rather to experience the sensations which I have sometimes imagined accompany dissolution. I did not think, I did not reason, I did not move; all were alike impossible. I was only conscious of gazing fixedly, vacantly at my companion.

Presently I heard a voice saying, "Son of the Republic, look and learn," while at the same time my visitor extended her arm eastwardly. I now beheld a heavy white vapor at some distance rising fold upon fold. This gradually dissipated, and I looked upon a strange scene. Before me lay spread out in one vast plain all the countries of the world. I saw rolling and tossing between Europe and America the billows of the Atlantic, and between Asia and America lay the Pacific. "Son of the Republic," said the same mysterious voice as before, "Look and learn."

At that moment I beheld a dark, shadowy being floating in mid-air between Europe and America, dipping water out of the ocean in the hollow of each hand. He sprinkled some upon America with his right hand, while with his left hand he cast some on Europe. Immediately a dark cloud raised from these countries and joined in mid-ocean. For a while it remained stationary, and then moved slowly westward, until it enveloped America in its murky folds. Sharp flashes of lightning passed through it at intervals, and I heard the smothered groans and cries of the American people.

A second time the angel dipped water from the ocean, and sprinkled it out as before. The dark cloud was then drawn back to the ocean, in whose heaving billows it sank from view. A third time I heard the mysterious voice saying, "Son of the Republic, look and learn." I cast my eyes upon America and beheld villages and towns and cities springing up one after another until the whole land from the Atlantic to the Pacific was dotted with them. Again I heard the mysterious voice say, "Son of the Republic, the end of the century cometh, look and learn."

At this the dark, shadowy angel turned his face southward, and from Africa I saw an ill-omened specter approach our land. It flitted slowly over every town and city. The inhabitants presently set themselves in battle array against each other. As I continued looking, I saw a bright angel, on whose brow rested a crown of light, on which was traced the word "Union," bearing the American flag, which he placed between the divided nation, and said, "Remember ye are brethren." Instantly the inhabitants, casting from them their weapons, became friends once more and united around the National Standard.

And again I heard the mysterious voice saying, "Son of the Republic, look and learn." At this the dark, shadowy angel placed a trumpet to his mouth and blew three distinct blasts; and taking water from the ocean, he sprinkled it upon Europe, Asia, and Africa. Then my eyes beheld a fearful scene: from each of these countries arose thick, black clouds that were joined into one, and throughout this mass there gleamed a dark red light by which I saw hordes of armed men, who, moving with the cloud, marched by land and sailed by sea to America, which country was enveloped in the volume of the cloud.

And I dimly saw these vast armies devastate the whole country and burn the villages, towns, and cities that I beheld were springing up. As my ears listened to the thundering of the cannon, clashing of swords, and the shouts and cries of millions in mortal combat, I heard again the mysterious voice saying, "Son of the Republic, look and learn." When the voice had ceased, the dark, shadowy angel placed his trumpet once more to his mouth and blew a long and fearful blast.

Instantly a light as of a thousand suns shone down from above me, and pierced and broke into fragments the dark cloud which enveloped America. At the same moment the angel, upon whose head still shone the word UNION, and who bore our national flag in one hand and a sword in the other, descended from the heavens, attended by legions of white spirits. These immediately joined the inhabitants of America, who I perceived were well nigh overcome, but who immediately taking courage again, closed up their broken ranks and renewed the battle.

Again, amid the fearful noise of the conflict, I heard the mysterious voice saying, "Son of the Republic, look and learn." As the voice ceased, the shadowy angel for the last time dipped water from the ocean and sprinkled it upon America. Instantly the dark cloud rolled back, together with the armies it had brought, leaving the inhabitants of the land victorious. Then once more I beheld the villages, towns, and cities springing up where I had seen them before, while the bright angel, planting the azure standard he had brought in the midst of them, cried with a loud voice, "While the stars remain, and the heavens send down dew upon the earth, so long shall the Union last." And taking from his brow the crown on which was blazoned the word "Union," he placed it upon the Standard, while the people, kneeling down, said, "Amen."

The scene instantly began to fade and dissolve, and I at last saw nothing but the rising, curling vapor I at first beheld. This also disappearing, I found myself once more gazing upon the mysterious visitor, who, in the same voice I had heard before, said, "Son of the Republic, what you have seen is thus interpreted: Three great perils will come upon the Republic. The most fearful is the third, passing which the whole world united shall not prevail against her. Let every child of the Republic learn to live for his God, his land, and the Union." With these words the vision vanished, and I started from my seat, and felt that I had seen a vision wherein had been shown me the birth, progress, and destiny of the United States.
