At least that’s how the old saying went and it still held true to this day, for the most part at least. You see, the second round of the tag team tournament was scheduled on this week’s edition of Smackdown and Serenity and her tag team partner Jamie Austin were scheduled to take on Matt Steel and Drake Striker. Or should I say they were taking on Drake Striker.....maybe. About a month ago, Matt Steel went to the ring to announce that he was withdrawing from the tag team tournament because a friend told him Drake was going to screw him out of the tournament. Problem was, there was no withdrawing and whether he chose to participate or not the match was going on with him scheduled in it. Since he had announced he was withdrawing, Serenity didn’t figure he would show. Which just left Drake and with being one half of the best tag team in WGEF history he was enough to deal with on his own. If he bothered to show now that he and Deacon were looking to go for the titles themselves. Still Serenity wasn’t about to take any chances with something like a title shot on the line. She made her way to the arena a few days early hoping to get in some extra time in the training ring. The scene opened in the backstage and as it does we see a black limo pulls into the parking lot of the Canton Memorial Civic Center, where WGEF Smackdown is set to air live Friday night in front of a sold out crowd. The limo pulls through the parking lot coming to a stop in front of the rear entrance doors. As the engine goes quiet the left front door opens and a middle aged man dressed in a plain black suit with a white dress shirt steps out. He walks around to the back pulling the door open. A pair of women’s legs emerge from inside touching the pavement below. Moments later the occupant slides the rest of the way out rising to a standing position. The camera slowly pans up their legs revealing the person to be Serenity Chambers Steel. Serenity stretched her legs and straightened her baby blue T-shirt as she waited for the limo driver to return with her gym bag. A few moments pass and the driver returns carrying her black gym bag. Serenity takes the bag from him draping it over her shoulder. She offers him a polite smile and a thank you before turning around and heading towards the building. A few moments later she finally reaches the building and is stopped by the security guard on duty. She reaches into the front pocket of her gym bag for her company id. Seconds later she pulls out the small plastic card and hands it to him. He looks on the clipboard in his hands and searches for Serenity’s name. Finding it towards the bottom of the page he crosses it off handing the card back to her. She shoves it back into the pocket of her gym bag as she heads inside. She stopped at the check in desk for her locker room assignment and to see if Jamie had arrived yet. After being told that her locker room was number 423 she was told that Jamie hadn’t arrived yet but scheduled any minute. Serenity nodded in acceptance as she took the key and headed on her way. She made her way down the long hallway going almost to the end. Finally finding room 423 she stuck the key in the lock turning it all the way till she could hear it click. She twisted the knob slightly pushing it inward and making her way inside. Serenity gave the room a small look over as she tossed her bag on the couch. It wasn’t the best but it would do. It wasn’t like she was going to be spending all day in there. She reached into the main section of her bag pulling out a metallic pink iPod, clipping it on the waistband of her jeans she lowered herself on the floor to start on her stretches. After a couple of minutes she found a song that suited her fancy and pressed play. As the song started to play through her headphones she leaned towards the right, stretching out her right leg. She was so consumed with her pre training stretching that she was unaware that the door to her locker room had opened and her husband AC Steel had entered the room. AC walked up behind her. He brushed her long blonde hair away from her neck moving his face towards her in an attempt to give her a kiss on the neck. Serenity pulled away swinging her hand back almost hitting him. AC ducked just in time watching Serenity’s hand swing into the dead air. AC Steel: A little touchy aren’t we?   Serenity Chambers: Sorry babe, I didn’t realize you were standing there.   AC Steel: What’s with the jab anyway? Normally you’re not near that touchy.   Serenity Chambers: Is it my fault that you got in my way? If I want any shot of advancing in this tournament I have to be in the best shape I can possibly be. AC Steel: You have nothing to worry about. You and Jamie got through the first round pretty easy. I know Harris had already retired and Chris Acid…well…lord knows where he was. Serenity Chambers: You don’t get it. Yes Jamie and I work well together, but the opponents we had in the first were needless to say non existent. We basically got a bye. This week we have …�?/FONT> AC Steel: You’ve got my pain in the ass brother Matt, is what you’ve got. Look Seren, you don’t have to worry about him. Even on your worst day you’re better than he could ever hope to be. Relax, you’ve got this match in the bag. Serenity Chambers: Are you freaking kidding me? Did you see who Matt’s partner was? AC Steel: Drake Striker…so what’s your point? Serenity Chambers: Are you on something that I don’t know about? (AC shakes his head) He’s one half of the single biggest tag team this company has ever seen and you want me to sit here and relax? You’ve got to be kidding me. AC Steel: I’m telling you to relax because there’s nothing to get all stressed over. Look at this way, Drake wants the tag titles yes but with my brother as his partner…no. If he does go for them then he’s going to do it with Deacon Now do you see why I tell you not to get stressed over this? Serenity Chambers: I can’t help it AC. This tournament is the best opportunity that’s come my way in awhile and I don’t want to blow it by being under prepared regardless if there’s a chance my opponent is going to show up or not. I just wish Jamie would call back and let me know when she’s coming in so we can get some training in. AC Steel: She even called to give you an idea of when she’s coming? Serenity Chambers: No and that’s what worries me. Jamie’s not the type to leave me hanging like this. I don’t know if something’s happened and she’s not going to be able to be here or if she’s on her way. With my luck she won’t show, Drake will and I’ll be in there alone with him. Lord knows if that happens, I don’t have a shot of getting to the third round in that case. AC Steel: Stop talking like that. You have just as much shot of winning whether Jamie shows up or not. Drake’s great I’ll give him that but so are you and I know if you have to face him alone you’ll do just fine. Before Serenity could respond there was a soft tapping at her door. AC made his way over to the door and pulled it open. On the other side was one of the company’s many stage hands. He said that Kristal sent him to ask if she would be interested in an interview about her match. Serenity let out a sigh nodding in his direction. He told her he’d let Kristal know to be expecting her and disappeared back into the hall. AC Steel: You aren’t seriously going to waste the time are you? Serenity Chambers: What can it hurt? I answer a few stupid questions awhile and start my training later. I’m going to head down there, okay? AC shrugs knowing there wasn’t anything for him to say. Serenity pulls herself from the floor to her feet.
