The scene reopened a few minutes later with Trish making her way down the hall after just cutting an interview with Todd Grisham promoting her upcoming match on Smackdown against WGEF’s newest diva, Maria Kanellis. As Trish made her way down the hall an arrogant smile spread across her face as the words replayed through her mind. In her mind it had went perfectly. Of course she always thought everything she did was perfect and this was no different. Trish made her way down the hall all the way to the far end where the management offices were located. A close view of the door told any curious spectator that it was indeed her office. Gripping the handle firmly in her hand she twists it slightly to the right stepping inside. Inside her two year old daughter Crystal was seated on the floor playing with her toys while Trish’s assistant Karen kept a close eye on her. The faint sound of the TV could be heard playing throughout the room. As Trish made her way inside the room she could hear Maria’s voice coming from the screen. With an eyebrow cocked in curiosity Trish walked across the room taking a seat beside Karen on the couch.
Trish Stratus: Couldn’t you find anything better to watch than exposing my daughter to the ramblings of someone whose brain resembles Swiss cheese?
Karen: We watched it to catch your interview with Todd because Crystal wanted to see mommy on TV. It’s not my fault that Todd decided to interview
Maria right afterwards. What are you objecting for anyway? You said the other day that you were wanting more from her than what you had seen and you’ve got it.
Trish Stratus: Throwing my words back in my face…geesh Karen you’re starting to act way to much like me. (She smirks) It’s way to freaky.
Trish couldn’t help but let out another small laugh as she leans her small frame against the back of the couch. Just from what little of Maria’s interview she had seen, Maria appeared to have grasped what Trish said quite well. She did think she was nothing more than a joke and why shouldn’t she? Maria hadn’t given her any real reason to take her as a viable opponent. No sooner had Trish’s body rested against the back of the couch her laughter came to abrupt stop. Her eyes stared straight ahead at the screen as if it held her in some sort of trance. Without taking her eyes off the screen she pulled herself up to the front resting her elbows on her knees, taking in what Maria had just said. She thought she had a chance at beating Trish on Smackdown. Normally this is where Trish would laugh but the comment had taken her by such surprise she was left in shock. Noticing Trish’s sudden spurt of silence Karen glanced over waving her hand in Trish’s face snapping her back into reality.
Karen: Something the matter? Normally you’re not this quiet after your opponent has cut a promo. This is where you point out their stupidity or something and yet?nothing. What gives?
Trish Stratus: Did you hear what she said? (Karen shakes her head no) The twit has convinced herself that she is able to beat me. ME of all people! That’s so ridiculous its not even worth laughing at. I don’t know Karen, I can’t help but sit there and wonder how she rubbed those two tiny brain cells of hers together and managed to come up with that. She can’t even beat Grisham much less me.
Karen: Hey the girl can dream can’t she? Look at it this way her first win was handed to her and she’s well aware that it was, right now she’s still on a high from it. She’s going to go into this over confident and make some drastic mistake and it won’t take you as long to beat her as you thought it would. Given that you avoid from getting to over confident yourself.
Trish scoffs.
Trish Stratus: You’re joking right? This is Maria we’re talking about here, there is no way I could get to over confident at beating her. The woman couldn’t fight her way out of a wet paper bag with a hole in it and you’re telling me not to get over confident.
Karen: All I was trying to say if you don’t at least entertain the notion that she has a chance at getting a lucky break then you could be setting yourself up for a major upset and that wouldn’t help you any heading into Wrestlemania.
Trish Stratus: You really need to watch how you word things, you know that? My god Karen it sounded as if you had switched sides and was now sympathizing with Maria.
Karen: And you thought that I was joking earlier.
Trish Stratus: You better not be, you’re one of the few people around here who keep me sane.
Karen: Not to drastically change the subject here, but you’ve got Maria to think about instead of whether I have sympathy for her,
Trish Stratus: Relax I’ve given her some thought. Granted it wasn’t more than a second or two but it was some thought none the less Trust me beating Maria is going to be like taking candy from a baby, if not easier.
Karen: I hope you’re right about that.
Trish Stratus: Alright, what’s that supposed to mean?
Karen: Just that now that Maria has decided to wrestle she’s had to have some training. She may not be the world’s brightest person but she’s far from stupid enough to step into the ring with anyone without having at least some idea of what she’s doing.
Trish Stratus: I have no doubt that she has, even someone as dimwitted as Maria knows she’s going to need at least some training, unfortunately for poor little Maria it’s not going to be enough. She’s soon going to realize that she got herself into something she’s nowhere near ready for.
The two women share a laugh at Maria’s expense as the scene once again fades to black.
