The scene just outside a local airport in Albany, New York, as it does we see a white stretch limo slowly pull into the parking lot. It slowly makes its way through the lengthy driving lane eventually coming to a stop directly in front of the doors. The limo driver killed the engine and opened his door stepping out onto the sidewalk. He quickly walked around to the rear door and pulled it open. A few seconds pass and Trish Stratus Copes emerges from inside the limo still dressed in the white tank top and pants that she put on that morning. She grabbed her purse from its place on the seat beside her and drapes it over her shoulder. She rises to a standing position, offering the limo driver a polite smile and a thank you before heading into the airport. As she reaches the doors they glide open allowing Trish inside. She stepped past the doors coming to a stop on the other side. She reached inside her purse looking for her airline ticket. Finally finding it next to her cell phone she pulls it out. Her eyes scan the ticket from top to bottom looking for the gate number. She finally finds it on the bottom of the ticket. Gate 23 she quietly says to herself. She lets out a quick hmmm before placing the ticket carefully back into her purse. She takes a quick peek at her watch seeing that she only had 45 minutes left before her flight. Tightening her grip on her purse Trish hurries down the hall searching for gate 23 and her husband and daughter. Halfway down she sees a large sign hanging from the ceiling giving the directions to where different gates are located. Trish pauses to look and see if the gate she was looking for was on there. Sure enough there it was directly in the middle. Just as Trish was about to continue on she heard an unfamiliar voice calling out “Oh my god it’s Trish Stratus!? Trish rolled her eyes in annoyance knowing that it was just some damp pantied fan before turning around and finding two teenage girls standing behind her.
%Girl #1%
Excuse me Trish but we were hoping to get a quick autograph.
Trish nodded her head in acceptance knowing it was the only way she was going to rid herself of them in time to catch her flight. Before she can even fish around in her purse for something to write with both girls produce a sharpie marker and a small notebook. The second girls hands the notebook to Trish as she quickly starts to sign a brief message across the top of the piece of paper.
%Girl #1%
I know you’re probably in a hurry but I was just wondering if you are nervous about defending your Intercontinental Title against Mister Nyman again? I know you beat him last month but are you worried that after losing once already might put more of a fire into him to where he can actually beat you?
Trish scoffed at the question…her be nervous? Now that was funny. Obviously this girl didn’t know her well at all or she would know that Trish isn’t afraid of any competitor. Especially one like Nyman.
%Trish Stratus Copes%
I’m sorry you have the wrong person. If I were you I’d wait around awhile for Mister Nyman and ask him that question. After as badly as he was beaten last month, he’d be a much better person to answer a question like that.
&Girl #2&
Okay maybe not nervous but surely you’re concerned about your chances of coming out the winner.
%Trish Stratus Copes%
Sweetie?do you have any idea who you’re talking to? If I was seriously concerned about my chances of beating someone who couldn’t fight his way out a wet paper bag with a hole in it, then I’d have more to worry about then coming out the winner. There’s my career to consider and if I’m worrying about being able to beat someone that my two year old daughter could beat, the title is going to be the least of my concerns.
%Girl #1%
Have you done anything to prepare for this match?
%Trish Stratus Copes%
Well of course I have darling. I’ve ordered as much coffee as I can just so that I can stay awake for the whole thing. Lord knows I’m going to it having to endure a match with him.
%Girl #2%
Yea but after last month Nyman is going to be looking for any way to take the title away from you aren’t you going to need to be prepared more than just drinking coffee?
%Trish Stratus Copes%
That was sarcasm genius. Are you really that dense or have you been licking too many of those flavored windows again? Honestly what’s going on in the schools today? (The girl gets pissed) Alright since I seemed to have offended you I’ll answer your little question. Not that I need it but of course I’m going to be more prepared than drinking coffee. Nyman may be far from the best we have on the roster, but my title is on the line and I’m not about to take any chances.
%Girl #1%
With Nyman not having any form of promotion for this match and it being only a day away, do you think there’s a chance that he’s not going to show?
%Trish Stratus Copes%
As much as I would love to not have to listen to him run his mouth yet again about how he’s going to take my title, I honestly don’t see that happening. If it would then he would’ve been smart enough to know that he doesn’t have a snowflakes chance in hell at actually getting his hands on the title. He’d have better luck staying in the back and chasing Giana Murphy around. Who knows he may actually succeed this time and get into her pants.
Trish handed the girls back the notebook after giving each of them the autograph they asked for. She was hoping that would further show that she had other places she needed to be but no such luck.
%Girl #2%
As badly as Mister Nyman wants to become the Intercontinental Champion, I can’t see him passing up an opportunity like this to hang out with Giana Murphy?if he really is. After he was screwed out of becoming the Intercontinental Champion last month he will definitely show up and this time take your title.
Trish lets out a snicker at the girl’s expense.
%Trish Stratus Copes%
That was a good one. It really was. I don’t know how you were able to keep a straight face, especially on that last part. Nyman taking my title?that was the best line I’ve heard all day. You really should get a medal for that.
%Girl #1%
Okay saying that he’s definitely going to win the title may be going a bit too far but you have to admit that he’d definitely going to give you a challenge regardless of what’s going on between him and Giana Murphy.
%Trish Stratus Copes%
One of you has some brains…I must say that I am truly surprised. If you could give some of that to your little friend over there, it’d be much appreciated. Because as much as she wants to believe it Nyman has as much chance of winning as a fish does learning to ride a bicycle. If he bothers to get off Giana long enough to haul his ass to the ring.
Trish looks down at her watch seeing that she only has 20 minutes till her flight leaves.
%Trish Stratus Copes%
Listen girls I really do have to be going if I want to catch my flight.
The girls be grudgingly accept and let Trish go on her way. Knowing that she has quite a distance to go Trish starts running down the terminal hoping that she’s able to make it on time. As she continues to run down the hallway her eyes catch her watch –only ten more minutes. Finally after a couple more minutes Trish finally reaches the gate. Out of breath she unzips her purse and reaches inside for her ticket. She pulls it out and hands it to the flight attendant behind the counter. As the flight attendant glances over Trish looks around noticing that Deacon isn’t anywhere to be seen. Figuring they must already be on the plane she waits for the attendant to give her back her ticket. Finally he does and Trish hurries through the gate and into the plane where she sees Deacon sitting on the outside seat with a magazine in his hands. She quickly shows the stewardess her ticket and is led to the seat next to him . As she plops her small frame into the seat next to him she lays her hand on his leg, rubbing it gently.
%Deacon Havok%
What took you so long? I was beginning to wonder if you were even going to make the plane.
%Trish Stratus Copes%
I got stopped by these two pains in the ass girls wanting autographs and of course they had to ask some stupid questions about my match tonight. If I wouldn’t have sprinted across the terminal I wouldn’t have made it here on time.
Trish picks Crystal out of her seat and sits her down in the seat next to hers as the seatbelt sign comes on. After making sure her daughter was secured she reached over and fastened her own seatbelt. As she did the stewardess stepped out from behind a curtain and got on the microphone.
&Stewardess&
Welcome Ladies and Gentlemen to flight 930 direct from Albany, New York to Honolulu, Hawaii, here on Virgin Atlantic. As soon as the plane has safely made it into the air you will be free to walk around the plane. Enjoy your flight and thank you for flying Virgin Atlantic.
She hung the microphone and disappeared once again behind the curtain. A few moments pass and the seatbelt sign goes off. Trish glances over at Crystal who was fast asleep in her seat. Trish undoes her seatbelt and starts to lean back as her cell phone starts to ring. She lets out a sigh as she pulls herself back up grabbing her purse from its place next to her lap Unzipping the middle section she reaches inside for her phone Finding it at the bottom of the main compartment she pulls it out and flips it open She pulls up her contacts and searches for her best friend Kaylee’s phone number. As she comes across it she presses the call button and listens as the phone starts to ring. A couple of minutes and finally Kaylee can hear the phone being picked up.
%Kaylee Adams McKenzie%
Hello?
%Trish Stratus Copes%
Hey Kay it’s Trish. Deacon and I have just left Albany and are on our way over to Honolulu. The way I have it figured we should get there about an hour or two before the pay per view starts.
%Kaylee Adams McKenzie
That going to give you enough time to over come the jetlag before your match? Your title is on the line after all and if Nyman gets his hands on it you’re never going to live it down, you know that right?
%Trish Stratus Copes%
Don’t worry I’ll have plenty of time to get there and relax a bit before my match comes up. Especially with it being the second to the last match on the card, an hour or two will give me plenty of time. You worry to much you know that? If I didn’t know better I swear I was talking to Deacon over here instead of you.
Deacon opens his eyes and looks over at his wife with a quizzical expression as he tries to figure what’s going on. Seeing him looking at her Trish moves the phone away from her mouth a bit and mouths the word Kaylee at him. Deacon nods and closes his eyes once again.
%Trish Stratus Copes%
Did the sets and everything get there on time and set up?
%Kaylee Adams McKenzie%
Everything’s fine. All the stages and sets came this morning and the crew is setting them up now. I told them to make sure they were up when by the time you got here.
%Trish Stratus Copes%
Fantastic! I don’t know what I’d do without you helping me.
%Kaylee Adams McKenzie%
Yea about that. You’re really going to love me even more. I checked the sign in sheet at the Stan Sheriff Center and all the hotels around here and so far Nyman hasn’t bothered to check into any hotels nor shown up at the arena. Apparently he doesn’t want the Intercontinental Title as badly as he said he did.
%Trish Stratus Copes%
You have got to be kidding me! Don’t tell me that he’s lost what little balls he had and decided not to even show?
%Kaylee Adams McKenzie%
You’re awful, you know that?
%Trish Stratus Copes%
What can I say…I try? It’s not like the whole company doesn’t know already anyway. Besides you know it’s true. Why else do you think his career has been the way it is? The guy sucks and he knows it. Why else would he claim that he was screwed out of the title last month and challenge me to another match only not to show up when he finally gets the shot. He’s lost his balls. Things keep going like this and this will be the easiest title defense I’ve ever had.
%Kaylee Adams McKenzie%
You don’t really think it’s going to be that easy do you?
%Trish Stratus Copes%
Of course not but it never hurts to hope does it? For all I know I may actually get lucky enough not to have to listen to Nyman ramble on about how great he is and how he’s going to take my title. I really don’t want to repeat myself all over again. It gets a little old.
%Kaylee Adams McKenzie%
He hasn’t said a word yet and he’s already got you irritated. I’d hate to see what kind of mood he’s going to have you in when he finally does say something.
%Trish Stratus Copes%
You have no idea just how excited I am at the thought of getting to listen to the same crap all over again (She rolls her eyes). Now you see why I’m hoping to get lucky and him not to even show up. Just having to be in the ring with him is bad enough.
%Kaylee Adams McKenzie%
He doesn’t irritate you does he?
%Trish Stratus Copes%
Irritate doesn’t even begin to describe it girlie. It really doesn’t. I don’t know how to describe it but it’s along the lines of fingernails on a chalkboard.
The two women share a small laugh at Nyman’s expense before maintaining their composure moments later.
%Kaylee Adams McKenzie
That was bad Trishy.
%Trish Stratus Copes%
True but it was just too perfect not to say. You’ve listened to him…tell me he doesn’t irritate you as much as fingernails on a chalkboard does.
%Kaylee Adams McKenzie%
You’ve got a point there, he does. I would say I feel for you but considering that you accepted the match I don’t see you believing me.
%Trish Stratus Copes%
Hey if the guy wants to have his ass handed to him a second time then that’s his problem. I have absolutely no problem in complying.
%Kaylee Adams McKenzie%
Considering that you accepted the match, I’d hope that you don’t have a problem in complying. I’m sure you don’t have a problem in knocking him flat on his ass either.
Trish burst into laughter catching the attention of nearly half the plane. She ignores their stares and continues her chat with Kaylee.
%Trish Stratus Copes%
You know me far to well, you know that? I swear it’s like talking to the mirror.
%Kaylee Adams McKenzie%
Can I help that great minds think alike?
Just as Kaylee finished speaking Trish looked up to see the seatbelt sign had come back on.
%Trish Stratus Copes%
Listen Kay we’re arriving at the airport now so I’ll be at the arena in about an hour or so. I know this is a bad time to ask but my limo is out there right?
%Kaylee Adams McKenzie%
Of course, I had one of the stagehands make sure to send one for you guys herself to make sure it was there.
Trish thanked Kaylee and quickly said her goodbyes. As she heard the dial tone coming from the other end she quickly flipped her phone closed. She stuffed back into the main section of her purse and fastened her seatbelt as the stewardess came back out.
%Stewardess%
Ladies and Gentlemen we are just about to land at the Southwest Airlines, please make sure you are seated and that your seatbelt is securely fastened around you. We hope that you have enjoyed your flight and will fly Virgin Atlantic in the future.
As she disappears once again behind the curtain as the plane started to descend. After a half hour it finally hit the ground sending everyone flying forward in their seats then slamming against the back seconds later. The plane coasted along the runway eventually coming to a smooth stop in front of the gate. Flight attendants gathered up front as the announcement was made for everyone to begin getting off the plane. Unfastening their seatbelts Trish and Deacon rose to their feet. As usual people pointed and stared as they made their way through the terminal. Deacon headed to the baggage claim as Trish headed through the lobby to the waiting limo. After having a bag boy grab the bags Deacon joined her inside the limo as the limo driver and bag boy loaded everything into the trunk. After twenty minutes everything was in the trunk. The limo shut the trunk and headed around to the front. He climbed in the driver’s seat and turned on the engine. After a couple of minutes he pulled out of the parking lot and into traffic. An hour and a half later they finally reach the arena to a large group of fans clustered at the top of the back drive. The limo driver fights through it eventually getting through and continuing on to the rear entrance door. The limo came to a stop just in front of the door. The driver got out and walked around to the back, he opened the rear door. Deacon slid out first soon followed by Trish holding Crystal. Deacon grabbed the bags from the limo driver and followed Trish inside. Once inside Trish dropped her small frame on the plush leather sofa as Deacon came in with the bags.
%Trish Stratus Copes%
Listen babe I’ve got something to take care of quick then I’ll be right back to get readyfor tonight.
Deacon nodded as Trish walked the short distance across the room to the doorway eventually disappearing into the hallway as the scene fades.
