listening to the Setanta pundits was a strange experience this afternoon. Terry Butcher, supposed Rangers legend, reckoned that the Boyd penalty was soft and probably wouldn't have been given outside the box. John Hartson then made his comments and told the truth that the penalty was, of course, an absolute stonewaller!

Scanning on to later in the game when Broadfoot gets a booking for diving when he is clearly taken out by the goalkeeper. Hartson's analysis was something along the lines of "That's another major refereeing decision thats gone against Rangers this season, it's far from the first!"

Is the world upside down? Maybe it's just that Hartson is a more than honest big bloke who calls the game as he sees it. It seems that despite playing for the dark side, maybe because he played there, he realises what really goes on in Scottish football. Butcher? well he lost my respect a long, long time ago.

I really like the way Hartson views the games! he always seems to have the same opinion as myself.

TGO, you'll probably remember me commenting to you about Hartson during an Old Firm game in his playing days. I think I said something along the lines of "I much prefer playing against John Hartson than against Chris Sutton. Hartson is an honest big guy. He'll batter you about, he'll be aggressive, he'll trouble you. But he won't cheat you the way Sutton will."

It seems Hartson is a genuinely good guy and has carried his open and honest approach to his football into his media career.

It's a pity we didn't take the gamble on his fitness.
