Welcome to season 5 of the site's consolation game.

No matter which side of the Old Firm divide we sit on, we know how agonising it is to see the other side win, especially if it's with a late goal, or a last-minute goal-line clearance or something like that. Similarly, we all know how good it is to see a rival player getting a red card.

"The Silver Lining" is the game that takes these emotions, and maybe helps to soften these blows a little. The rules are simple and detailed below.

Rules :-

1. Choose 3 players in total from the 2 Old Firm sides. One must be a defender, one a midfielder and one a striker. You must choose at least one player from each club, you cannot have 3 players from the same side.

A player's official position will be determined by the official position stated on the respective clubs' Footy Mad websites :-

Rangers - http://www.followfollow.com/footydb/loadpsqd.asp

Celtic - http://www.celtic-mad.co.uk/footydb/loadpsqd.asp

No two players can choose the same three players, so it's first come first served.

2. The points system is as follows :- 5 points awarded for your chosen striker scoring a goal; 7 points awarded for your chosen midfielder scoring a goal; 10 points awarded for your chosen defender scoring a goal; 5 points awarded for your chosen defender keeping a clean sheet; 2 points deducted for any chosen player receiving a yellow card; 5 points deducted for any chosen player receiving a red card.

3. If a player plays a match in a different position to his normal position, e.g. a striker plays in midfield, he scores points as if he is playing in the chosen position, i.e. as a striker.

4. Only players starting matches are eligible for scoring points, i.e. substitutes do not count in any way.

5. There will be a transfer window in January where one player can be exchanged, but rule no.1 above still applies to the type of player you can select.

The updated scores table will appear here after every match.
