The draw for the semi-finals of the Co-operative Insurance Scottish League Cup will be made today at 3pm at The Scottish Parliament at Holyrood. The draw will be made by First Minister, the Rt. Hon. Alex Salmond MSP and a representative from Co-operative Insurance. Also present at the draw and calling out the numbers, as he did last season, will be The Presiding Officer of The Scottish Parliament, Mr Alex Fergusson MP.

Here's hoping it's not the shambles that it was last season, when the draw was announced at 1.30pm, and then at 4.30pm it was changed as Mr Fergusson had got the numbers wrong. Four balls, four names, it's not that difficult for somebody in charge of our parliament, surely ? Mind you, if the draw doesn't suit Celtic, once Liewell gets hold of him.........

(Teams in the draw - Celtic, Dundee United, Falkirk, Rangers)

Why on earth is a cup draw presided over by politicians?  Surely they should be too busy for such trifling matters.

Any opportunity to get your face on the telly is good for these guys. Except when you read out the wrong names against the numbers, of course, eh Mr Fergusson ?

Celtic v Dundee United
Rangers v Falkirk

Ties to be played at Hampden Park on Tuesday 27th or Wednesday 28th January 2009.

We wait for the draw to be changed to Celtic v Falkirk and Rangers v Dundee United once Liewell gets hold of Fergusson.

Who would have guessed it?
