Enjoyed my weekend in Glasgow immensely, thank you for once again being my sherpa.  Was good to get along to see Celtic Park from close up; impressive in terms of scale but from the outside it looks like any new football stadium, all breeze blocks and steel and the peculiar right-angled frontage made the place look like some sort of giant estate agents!  That said, when we took our walk over to Rutherglen and looked back to see the towering main stand dwarfing the other three sides of the stadium and bearing the legend CELTIC FOOTBALL CLUB out to the world I must say it looked mightily impressive.

Impressive on a far smaller scale was New Southcroft Park.  A tidy looking ground with an excellent playing surface, it looks a far more pleasant venue to watched football than the dear old run down Southcroft.  The social club is an excellent venue too, spacious and modern and a pleasant place to enjoy a drink.  The Glens look well set for many years to come and I wish them all the very best.

The game at Ibrox was ultimately far more exciting than it might otherwise have been!  Rangers had the game won inside ten minutes with two very well worked goals and only some excellent St Mirren defending prevented Rangers from at least doubling that lead by half time.  In the second half Kenny Miller contrived to make a hash of an open goal, one of the very worst misses I have ever seen.  With Boyd square of him he should perhaps have passed but I disagreed slightly with Nessie; Miller made the chance himself by rounding the St Mirren keeper and it is strikers prerogative to try and finish it himself surely?  Either way, an astonishing miss and when he hit the cross bar rather unfortunately ten minutes later from (if I recall correctly) Broadfoot's excellent low cross from the byline you could feel the tension from nearly 50,000 restless natives.  When St Mirren - all pretty passing but no cutting edge - pulled one back out of the blue and then forced MacGregor  into a good shortly afterwards I think Nessie was watching through the gaps in the hands over his afce at this point!

Rangers held out - deservedly - to win the points.  I thought that Davis was outstanding and my man of the match.  He rarely wastes a pass and drives forward with plenty of industry, a neat and tidy player who keeps things ticking over.  He also weighed in with a neat finish for his goal at the end of an excellent Rangers move which cut St Mirren - who otherwise defended superbly - to ribbons.  The referee was petty decent I thought, although 50,000 Rangers fans would disagree; the anguish and anger directed at the referee in those last ten minutes was impressively vocal!

Many thanks to TGO for the lend of your season ticket and moving up to the club deck to allow me to keep your Copland seat warm for the afternoon!  Was good to meet you, likewise the venerable College Rosco who I discovered to be a fellow Speedway fan.  I look forward to meeting you all again next season perhaps!  Make sure you don't delete the pictures next time Nessie, you dunce .

You were most welcome, as always.

I'm sorry about the photos, my mind wasn't quite right on Saturday night. As you saw I wasn't in the best of health on Saturday, and things went downhill rapidly on Saturday evening to the extent where the bathroom sink was blocked from the contents of my stomach. (I don't think anyone wants me to go on ! )

I thought I had saved the photos to the laptop so I deleted them off the camera, only to find they hadn't saved properly, so my daring display of loyalty to the Rangers scarf outside the front door of The Piggery is lost to the world.

The Referee had a decent game up until the last 20mins when he totally lost the plot. The handball  descision against Broadfoot when it came off his thigh was one of many strange descisions made by the referee.

My head was obviously completely all over the place last Saturday. Purely by chance, fiddling about on the laptop, guess what I found tonight ? Yes, tucked away in a file called "Glens programme articles", was the file with the pictures from last Saturday !

Here we go :-

1. half_man__half_biscuit stops just short of wearing a P3 mask and disposable coverall as he completes his tour of the major football grounds in Glasgow.

2. Meanwhile, yours truly decided to be a wee bit more "in yer face" in front of The Piggery.

3. & 4. Then it was on to the official press unveiling to the media (i.e. me) of the manager of Rutherglen Glencairn FC.

5. An opportunity was taken to check out the best view in the ground.

6. And finally it was on to the new social club to meet TGO, stopping briefly for a photo opportunity outside the mural celebrating the greatest moments in the history of The Glens.

Thanks for uploading these pics, Nessie.  Picture 2 was taken in the 0.5 seconds which Nessie was prepared to stand outside Celtic Park holding a Rangers scarf

Not true. As you well know you actually took 2 pictures, and there's a 20-second delay on my camera between pictures. I'll upload the 2nd one if you need me to prove it.
