...they were finally blown away by today's 8am news bulletin. Now bear in mind that both sides of the Old Firm are playing today, and one of them are playing away to St Mirren, who play inside the broadcasting region of the station.

The headline at the start of the news ? "Celtic look to extend their SPL lead this afternoon !"

When it came to the detail of the sports news, we had a full two minutes of interview with Gordon Strachan, telling us how good Celtic are and how they're going for their 11th league win in a row. There was no mention of the opposition, no interview with any St Mirren official to balance it out.

Then, right at the end of the bulletin, they said, "Today's other fixtures are Dundee United v Hamilton, Hearts v Falkirk, Kilmarnock v Inverness, Motherwell v Hibernian and Rangers v Aberdeen."

Need I say any more ?

Unbelievably, they follow it up this morning by the 8am news headline, "Celtic stay 4 points clear in the SPL", followed by the usual 2-minute report about the Celtic game and interviews with Strachan again about how good a performance it was.

Absolutely no mention of the huge talking point in the game, i.e. the Boruc tackle (sweep sweep) and no interview with the St Mirren manager. I'm sure the people of Paisley (in RC Radio's broadcast area) would be interested to hear Gus McPherson's opinion of the game, but no opportunity was given for that to be aired. Could that be because it told the truth about Boruc's tackle ?

And at the end of the bulletin, we had the clearly inconvenient "and the other results were.....", the only mention they gave to the other teams in their broadcasting area, i.e. Rangers, Motherwell, Hamilton Academical and Kilmarnock.

The biggest game of the day yesterday was unquestionably Rangers v Aberdeen. It was attended by over 50,000 people, compared to the considerably less than full house at Love Street.

I'll be interested to hear who RC Radio focus on next weekend, as the biggest game of the day next Saturday is unquestionably Hearts v Rangers, with Celtic playing a diddy team at home in Inverness CT.
