Never mind your Aiden McGeady saga ! Last night I was down at training at New Southcroft Park for a wee bit of 'insider' work, and high on the discussion list was this article in The Sunday Mail last weekend :-

All very much part of normal life and an everyday newspaper article ? Well, perhaps at first glance. Until you realise that the Carlo Rea named in the article is the same man who has just been released by Rutherglen Glencairn (wasn't getting a regular starting place so asked for a move and we agreed to release him) and who has signed for our local rivals and fellow promotion contenders Cambuslang Rangers !  (Whether he'll ever play for Cambuslang remains to be seen.)

Yes, the very same Carlo Rea who was a complete gentleman to everybody at the club and was always willing to pose for photographs for yours truly for the website and match programmes etc. The very same Carlo Rea who I was slagging to his face only 6 weeks ago about constantly having his face in the local paper (his uncle is the sports photographer for The Rutherglen Reformer) despite not being on the pitch much. Fortunately he realised I was teasing him and saw the funny side of it, now that I read about his court case in 2006 for assault in a Coatbridge pub.

I always used to try to park my car beside Carlo's car in the car park, working on the theory that the local neds would break into an Aston Martin before a Ford Focus !

You just never know who you're dealing with sometimes, eh ?

Carlo Rea in action for The Glens before his transfer to Cambuslang Rangers.

We were perhaps that close to see Nessie floating in the Clyde though, maybe Rea could have teamed up with Haggis

What ground is that pictured Nessie?

I can still get messages to Carlo, sutton, do you want me to tell him you think he's a wuss ?

h_m__h_b, that's New Pebble Park, home of Annbank United in deepest rural Ayrshire. The other three sides of the ground are surrounded by fields and cows.

What an absolutely wonderful football ground!  I've always wanted to live next to a football ground, that would be absolutely perfect as you could watch from your bedroom for free!
