.....on Wednesday night. Cambuslang Rangers that is, of course.
This Wedneday evening sees the climax of the Central Sectional League Cup Group 4 (yes, the tournament that The Glens won last season and reached the semi-final of the previous season), and it's "winner takes all" at Somervell Park as group leaders Cambuslang Rangers host Rutherglen Glencairn.
The table currently looks like this :-
Central Sectional League Cup Group 4 table (updated 18/8/08)
1 | Cambuslang Rangers | 3 | 2 | 1 | 0 | 4 | 1 | +3 | 7 |
2 | Rutherglen Glencairn | 3 | 2 | 0 | 1 | 13 | 7 | +6 | 6 |
3 | Vale of Clyde | 3 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 6 | 4 | +2 | 4 |
4 | Blantyre Victoria | 3 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 2 | 7 | -5 | 4 |
5 | East Kilbride Thistle | 4 | 0 | 1 | 3 | 3 | 9 | -6 | 1 |
The final fixtures are Cambuslang Rangers v Rutherglen Glencairn and Blantyre Victoria v Vale of Clyde.
Only Cambuslang and Glencairn can progress, as no matter what the result is at Blantyre there has to be an outcome at Cambuslang that means the other match is irrelevant now.
Cambuslang Rangers and The Glens are both in the same league, so it's going to be a very even contest. Cambuslang's drawn match was at home to Blantyre Victoria, who Glencairn beat 7-1 away, but to balance that out The Glens lost to Vale of Clyde but Cambuslang defeated Vale. It's a funny old game at times, as somebody once said.
Full match report and pictures to follow on Wednesday evening.
