I'm not going to be a hypocrite and make out that i think Boyd is a great striker, or that I think he's good enough for Rangers. However, in the absence of a better option he appears to be the best striker at the club and therefore a strange choice for 'first man out' through the window. Does Walter have a better option available for signing? If so then the window will tell. Does Walter think Lafferty is a better option? If so then why has he been playing Boyd? To sell him? Is that what Rangers are reduced to?

As usual it appears FF is in meltdown at the moment and rumours abound that all the best players are for the off. The thing that gets to me though is how can the financial position have changed so much in the last 6 months that suddenly the club need to start a fire sale? Remember that Edu, Davis and Mendes were all bought after the Kaunus debacle when the likely finances for this year should have been relatively easy to project! If so then we have another example of Murray's ability to spend money he doesn't have to simply get the public off his back, knowing full well that January sales would be inevitable.

More likely to be honest however is that Boyd is simply a player who the manager doesn't really rate that highly and for whom he can receive a decent fee which he can reinvest in a player he needs. Heaven help him though if he fails to get that player or players in!
