Walter has hinted on the site that Fleck has done enough to keep his place in the team.

I believe he had done enough to get his place in the team at the start of this season, but Walter's in-bred reluctance to play youngsters meant that he kept him on the sidelines. This is the manager who nearly let a very young and frustrated Barry Ferguson leave the club, remember ? It was only a personal call from Dick Advocaat telling Ferguson to hang around that persuaded him to sign a new deal.

Rangers' next three league matches are away to Aberdeen, at home to Dundee United, and away to Celtic. Three extremely tough games which could be the making of Fleck as a Rangers first team player if he is given the chance.

But Walter is not a gambling man, and in my opinion he will play what he thinks is the safe card. McCulloch or Adam will play at left midfield, Fleck will drop to the bench, and our level of performance will drop.

I hope I'm wrong.
