Joel,
I quit smoking ten weeks ago today, many thanks to your amazing site-- but, if I can still exhale smoke if I push a lot of air from my lungs into my mouth. Is that strange?
Thanks
Michael

Hello Michael:
If you can find a person who never smoked a day in his or her life, have that person repeat your little experiment. You will see that the person also can blow out what appears to be smoke. If you could somehow manage to find a person who was never exposed to cigarette smoke even once that person too will be able to blow out smoke. The smoke you see is not tobacco smoke, but just really simple expired air. To see the difference, have a person who smokes take a drag and immediately exhale into a white handkerchief or cloth. Look and smell the stain that exhaled tobacco smoke makes. Then do your breath holding tehnique and blow your smoke through a similar piece of material. You will see that the components of the "smoke" is totally different than what is produced by cigarette smoke. |
