Please if you know a reputable source for ordering sorghum online,  send me the link??  I have about a quarter cup left and then will be OUT completely.

A cute southern gal just can't be without sorghum ya know??

I ordered a couple new Lodge skillets/griddles yesterday, can't wait till they get here.  My old one is just about worn out....mom and I both used it for YEARS tho.

Hope you know someone I can order from online, since I just can't jump in the car and drive up there for a quart of sorghum now can I ?    hmmmmmmm might be tempted tho.

Punkin

I have not been able to get on this site for months!!!  Finally tonight, some magic happened, so..here I am again.  Tic, I heard all the tires went flat and September couldn't get back home.  Oops...now that is just not right is it.  I heard from her a month or so ago.  She is up and around now,...I will sent her an e-mail and let her know you all miss her.  Honeybee

Hey Tall,

Sorry I'm late with the answer to your question.  I've been away for over a week, and I forgot which room my computer was in.

I always get me two quarts of good ol' lasses at the Asheville Farmer's Market in October.  That does me through the winter...(along with the sourwood honey, apple butter, and Mennonite Fruit Cake.)  I just have a half-a-quart left or I would send you some.

This molasses is the old timey stuff like I used to help my uncle Phillip make.  I remember sitting there with the mule going in circles while I poked the cane poles into the grinder.  The sap poured out into containers and in turn they were poured into a larger vat over an open fire and boiled down to make that delicious molassas.  The ones I buy are made by the Mennonites.

I put them in a small pot, sprinkle a dash of soda in them, and let them foam for a few minutes.  Then I eat them with hot buttermilk buscuits and tons of butter.  Yeeeeeee Haaaaaaaa!!!!!!

Next fall when I go up there, I'll get you a quart and send them to you.   I bet you will follow me around like a puppy dog from then on.

Hope you are getting along real good....sounds like you are.....take care.

TictocJim

PS...I don't know of anyplace you can get real honest to goodness molasses on line.  I never buy it unless I taste it first....and I know what good molasses taste like.

Well, gollieeeeeeee Tic ole buddy.  So glad you finally found your computer !!   Don't ya just hate this 'gettin ole thingy?'    I keep losing things too......but the alternative isn't so pleasing either !!

You made my mouth water and now I have to clean my desk off from all the slobbers on it !!   Nothing is so good as sorghum/butter and hot biscuits !!   Never had it the way you said tho.....might have to try it sometime.   I will try to find me some when we go to the Vernon reunion this July in Tennessee.  I absolutely canNOT live without my sorghum.  It surprises me that I let my supply get this low.

Yes, we are doing fine, living in sunny Florida now ya know.  Of course, we have the typical ole age things going back and forth as most do.  But for old folks, life is good and we are happy.

I hope you and good wife are doing well too?  And the kids?   Did you got to Daytona this year again?

See ya later dear friend.  Take care of yourself and don't get too lost.  Perhaps you could have good wife tie a bell around your neck and that might help?  HAWWWWWW HAWWWWWWWW

Tall:

Glad to see your reply.  I noticed that you said you might get some molasses during the summer....not a good idea.

The cane ripens in late August and molassas making begins in middle September.  If you buy it in the summer, it's already almost a year old and might be a trifle bitter.  Sometimes it granulates slowly and needs to be slowly reheated until it's all liquid if you choose to buy it that late in the season.

Just hold on to your bloobies and I'll send you a quart next September.......Lord willing, and I'm still here.  I could be talked into sending that ol' windbag Mern a quart also.

Take care of yourself....have fun....Don't worry...be happy...and all that sort of stuff...

I am
