How's your summer going so far?  Any vacation plans yet?  If so, where?

We are leaving in a couple weeks headed to my 'home' countryland.  Headed to good ole' Friendship, Tn. for a Vernon family reunion.  It is to be held at the church my ancestor had built in special regards to his wife, Elizabeth.  I haven't been to a reunion since I was 12yrs old.  So needless to say my excitement level is rising each day.  They have it every two years at the church.  And at last count ( two years ago ) there were 200-300 people there.  We are/were prolific breeders I suppose !!   After that, Jay will be going on to St. Louis area to visit his family and my sister and I will go on to Arkansas to visit our Mom's family.   Then Jay will come back and pick me up ( I HOPE !!  ) and then homebound to good ole' Florida again.   Good trip all in all.

We are doing fine for old folks.  I will be the GRAND 70 yrs old this coming January.  And I can honestly say, its the very first time in my whole life that my age is bothering me !!  I still think like a kid....but my body is saying otherwise now, and mostly feeling the total 70yrs !!!   Lots of health issues....but perfectly normal stuff.....nothing serious YET !!

Hope you all are doing well.   Take a couple moments to keep updated with everyone.

Love ya all,

CW/Pat

Cloud,

It sounds like you will be having a lot of fun this summer.

Unlike you my family is very small so a family reunion would have just a handful of people.

But like you I too will turn the GRAND 70 in January... So, happy birthday in advance.

Wishing all the friends here the best. Hope to be able to chat with you all again soon.(if I can figure out how to get in the chat room)

Soulkeeper/Rita

Hello Fellow Chatters From Long Ago:

Sure was good to see a post.  I thought everyone had moved away and left me all alone.  Dad and Mom would catch me out playing and move....kept me busy trying to find them.

Sounds like a fun vacation to me, Tall.  Heck, all my family on both my mother and father's side have all passed away.  I don't even know half my cousins now.  The big family "dinners" ceased in the late '40's, then grandmas, grandpas, and the older children (uncles and aunts) passed away and that stopped the big dinners.

I'll be 74 early next month.  I didn't feel my age until a couple of weeks ago....had to have a pacemaker installed.  Physically I did good.  They put it in on Saturday and dismissed me on Sunday afternoon.  I just have to be careful about lifting and moving my left arm for a couple of weeks.  Mentally, I am not doing good at all.  I can't sleep.  My family doctor won't give me anything to make me sleep, and I've been rather anxious and depressed since my discharge.  I had an appointment with him this morning, and he made me an appointment with a psychiatrist--I was taken aback at first---but then I decided I'd go anywhere and do anything to get this monkey off my back so I can sleep.  I've never had any experience in this sort of thing, so I don't know what I'm getting into.

Anyway...other than that little bump in the road....I'm doing good.  I check in here just about every day to see if anyone has posted.  I talk to cajun, Joy, and Seagull in another chat room in the mornings.  I'm having to put away the clocks until I get mended, so I have more time on the computer.

So.....

Here's to each one of my old chat buddies.....Have a bright, sunny day and may your nights be filled with good restful sleep.

I am

TictocJim

Hello Tic, Cloud, Rita and Lisa, (Yes Age before beauty),

Cloudwalker,  a family reunion!  Am sure that will be lots of fun.   I have one this October, and I am looking forward to it.  We also have it every two years.  And I will probably once again fail to recognize most of my cousins and other relatives.  We do have lots of laughs  and create new memories to carry us through till the next time.  Congratulations on your monumental 70th!

Rita, an early Happy Birthday to you too.  I hope that someone will post some hhelp for you in regards to getting to the chat room.

And Lisa, you are a young Grandmother!  How truly wonderful!.   Happy Belated Birthday.

Tic, as long as we wake up on this side of the dirt, we can surely deal with what the day brings.  I wish you a speedy recovery and I hope that you soon start getting a good nights sleep.  Not to make light of your situation, but I have heard that it is common to slip into a slightly depressed state of mind after surgery, even if it was not major surgery.  Heck I get depressed when I find out we don't have any sweets in the house.   Getting old sure is not for the weak.  You have lots of friends here that will be saying some prayers for you.  And you know when there are more than one or two praying for you then the Good Lord is almost sure to hear them.   Please give my regards to Cajun and Seagull.  I am not sure I know who Joy is.    Take care of yourself.

You all watch out for those moving mailboxes and kangaroos!

Nan

p.s.  Tic, I guess September must have had extended warranty on herself as that old car salesman never did bring her back.  Have not heard from her in ages.
