( in iron skillet on top of stove and kept hot)
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
2 tablespoon butter ( home churned of course)
1 med. can crushed pineapple ( unsweetened)
Cake : in bowl beat:
4 eggs (fresh from hen house of course)
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
add:
1 cup flour
1 teaspoon Arm & Hammer baking powder (omit if using self rising flour)
pour above cake mixture over the mixture in skillet and place in 325-350 oven for 40-45 mins then hold large plate over skillet and flip (thats the fun part LOL)
This was my grannies recipe and is absolutely THE best in the world...BUT one word of caution....MUST use iron skillet...its the 'southern way' and I might add the BEST lol
The cake part is old fashioned sponge cake....it took my mother years to get measurements for this....cuz grannie used hands...NOT measuring cups/spoons etc. ENJOY
