My double yellow Kiwi has decided that he likes to taunt one of my cats. He will come down to the seed skirt of his cage and just glare at the cat. Is there something I can do to stop Kiwi from doing this before something terrible happens?

Michele

Hi Michele.  When I had my birds in the house, they had their own separate room that was off-limits to the dogs and cats.  I never trusted the four footed creatures to be near the feathered creatures.  Is there any chance to put Kiwi's cage in a room that is off-limits to the cat?  Maybe someone else can come up with a better idea.  Kathy

I would also recommend separate areas for the bird and the cat!

We have only had our DYH for a short time. We have a sunporch where he has a playgym. Also 2 cage areas, living room and the birdroom. I would worry about a scuffle between bird and cat. Im sure the bird would handle himself fine, but one little cat claw could be bad news.

we have 2DYH and 6 cats.unless your cat shows signs of wanting to kill the bird i wouldnt worry, just dont leave bird out while your not at home.
cracker our female dyh has no fear of the cats and will bite them when shes out playing or if a tail or paw hangs to close to her!you her cage has a playtop to one side and the get up there to sleep.
pokey our dyh male is affraid of them and will scream at them if they try to get on his cage.
none of our cats want anything to do with a bird of that size!
