Amy,
Probably in May or June. The owner wanted me to take him 2 yrs ago then backed out. She is now pregant with her 3 rd child and wants to rehome him. She is very good to the bird and loves him deeply so I tried to talk her out of it but she doesnt feel she will have enough time with him.
She is having a csection on 3/29 then I will start to visit end of April to see if I can handle him and see how amazons act.

I am sure I can handle I think I am just relucant as I hear good and bad about them. I have a grey that we adopted 3 yrs ago and were able to get them to be are buddies so I am sure I will be ok with Fig. I learned how to know Clouseau(my greys) attitudes so I will have to learn Figs.

Does fig look small to you?

Fig is a beautiful yellow nape. It's hard to tell from a pic if he's small with no reference point beside him. He looks nice a full thru the tummy so I bet he's just fine.
Does she know his weight? That is a good indicator of how big he is. Napes are pretty big birds usually, but some are small and some are large. They range from 445 to 650 grams so that's a wide range. Some say they can even get up to 680 grams. But to make an average it takes a small built bird and a large one.

Patti,
I don't think he looks small at all. He's about the size of my YN. I have 16 Amazons so I think I know Amazons pretty well..LOL Good luck with him. Did you say he was 3 or 4? Be careful next year. He will be coming into maturity and if it's a male can and I say can show signs of aggression. Not all do. I have not see any video of him so I can't tell what his body language is like. You'll have to learn how to read that. Good luck with him.

I could have sworn I just answered this... he is so pretty and Amy thinks he isn't small and I thought he did look small!... maybe after the monsters I live with everything is out of kilter
I've had quite a few of the Yellows and all were large birds, and my DYH weighed in as heavyweights.
Hope the adoption works out this time though I feel for the family who has to part with him..

Hi everyone,
If I recall 2 years ago when she wanted me to take him she said he was 10???But honestly I dont know and will find out.

She tells me he is a great bird, talks and sings all the time and loves to play with her lab. When he was a baby, she use to hold him all the time and play with him and rock him to sleep. Her oldest son is 5 and she is now on her 3rd child so she doesnt think she will have enough time to spend with him. She does hold him occassionally now and he doesnt bite her and still gives her kisses. He loves his play gym and is on that all day long.

I use to work with this lady's mother and she use to tell me all about Fig and how wonderful he was. This is how I got to know about Fig and how this lady got to know about me and my birds. So I hope all works all well, my husband doesnt really care but my daughters 19 & 22 say no, but hey, I will be taking care of him so I will decide. I am hoping my husband will help me with the cleaning!

Patti

Using the playstand and other items for reference, I think he is on the smaller side.  But as Annie said, looks nicely rounded ....I'd say he's probably just at the smaller end of the "perfectly normal" scale.

It's good that you will be able to take time to get to know the bird, and him to know you.  You'll fall in love, I'm sure.
