Hi everyone,
Everyday is better with fig. He lets me pet him almost everyday now. Not sure why he won't let me everyday but thats ok, I take the days he lets me. He puts his food out for me and I have been trying to get him to step up and he won't . I am going to take this nice and slow and just keep petting him to make him comfortable with me.
Over the weekend when my daughters were watching him, he got off his play pen twice and he stepped up on ny daughters hand both times for very short time and then flew back to play pen.She was so excited and of course couldn't wait to brag to me!! She thinks he didnt realize what he was doing but hey it is first step!

To funny - he says Hello Poop Head, how are you!

He is eating alot more pellets but sure likes his pasta and vegetables.

Talk to you all soon!
Patti

Sounds like he is making big strides in his new home. Amazons seem to do fine if they are rehomed. I have 2 that were in other homes and they have adjusted just fine.

One of my zons calls me a butt, so I sympathize ..LOL Nan

I'm glad Fig's doing better. Barbra's right, he could say much worse! I played heck getting that Scarlet Macaw I had (Lady) to stop saying a certain word... he was owned for a time by a trucker. Need I say more?

yes it could be worse I agree. Thankfully we dont swear much at all and the previous owner didnt appear to either.

I almost picked him up yesterday but he flew away. I think just a matter of time now.

I have been trying to feed him more in his cage but he is on his playpen so much that I need to figure something out on the play pen. He just picks up his dish out of the slot and throws it when he doesnt want to eat!

I love just listening and watching him. When he plays with you, he grabs his leg like he is biting it but he isn't. Showing off I think!!!

For a play stand, I have a set of stainless steel double dishes that are welded together and have a bolt that goes through a hole drilled in a perch and has a screw on nut. It has draw backs, but he'd not be able to dump that kind. Does that make sense? I'll try and get a pic taken.
The Scarlet Macaw I had years ago used to do that when he was excited... I was never sure if he was a happy or stressed excitement with him. Sometimes he was happily playing, but other times? It's also been 12 years ago now...

Thats great news! We are lucky ours doesnt curse either. Thats funny that yours pretends to bite his leg when he is playing with you. Ozzy does the same thing and I wondered about that.
