Patti you don't think just plain newspaper would be easier to keep up over the shredded chips?

That seems like a lot of work changing it out every day and with newspapers I change those three or four times a day when they're indoors...
You can tell me MYOB...

What a wonderful thing for the two of you. He's a very adaptive little guy to feel so comfy after such a short time. You must be a really good parrot person. He trusts you.
Way to go!!

In the second picture, is he trying to put two different objects together?  My Blue front does that,--he'll take two toys or a toy and piece of wood or something else, and try to fit them together.  My YN did it too.

How sweet! ... I use paper too... but when the poop flies, I like to get it out asap.
He looks so happy with you!

Patti, you and Fig are so cute when shaking hands!  I'm so glad things are working out for you with him, and in such a short time.  Thank you for sharing the pictures.

Hi everyone,
Fig seems to enjoy being with us. I tried sending these pictures to the previous owner but she says they are blurry.

I use the wood chips because Fig likes to go down tear up the newspapers and throw them on the floor so the bottom of the play pen gets nasty. I use to use the newspapers but his throwing them around didnt work for me. My dogs walk in the room and they would step on the paper and guess what, yes bird poop on the rug. So, the chips work good, More work but better for us. I scoop out the poop as often as I can as I know bacteria can form. I scoop up every nite and all day on the weekends. I have plastic liners around the cages and I also have newspaper on top of them, less cleaning as I throw the paper away and the carpet is protected by the plastic. I wish I could use the papers - cheaper for sure, but I couldn't get him to stop throwing the papers. If you have any suggestions for me to try I sure would love to hear it so I can try.

In the second picture, he is playing with a bell. He loves when we play together with his toys.

he is so much fun!

Patti

I'm so glad you and Fig are doing well together. You have come a long way.
The first pic does look a little blurry to me, but not too bad. The second one is very clear.
If the play stand tray is metal, you might try what I do on Kit and Rica's cage trays. I use big button magnets at the corners to hold the papers in place. I wrap them in news paper so they will stay clean, and it also helps keeps from drawing attention to them by a nosy bird (aka Kit)
