I got a call just before 8:00 tonight from my daughter-in-law Laura. I could hardly understand her because of the traffic hoise in the background. My son Murray, his wife Laura, and their three children (Emily 6, Julia almost 4, and baby Murray just over 4 months, were coming back from Mom and Dad's on the Pat Bay Highway. There was a lot of traffic, and it was dark out, and they hit a deer. Anyway, I went out to the accident scene to pick them up, as their car had to be towed. I got baby and Julia in their car seats in the back, and Laura in the front. Murray and Emily got a lift home with the police. Thank God that they are all safe!!! It is really a miracle, considering there was really heavy traffic and they were in the passing lane when it happened. I am saying prayers of thanks!! Abby |

Oh my, they are so lucky. David has had two jump out in front of his motorcycle in the last two weeks. How he avoided them I'll never know. Blessings to Murray's family. I hope the kids weren't traumatized. My prayers of thanks for them, too. Annie |

Glad everyone is ok. Drought here causing the deer to go places they don't normally and increasing the accidents. Good think you were able to help.

Thanking God that everyone is safe. We hit a deer several years ago. it did 10k damage to the car, and took 3 weeks to get fixed. |

Traffic "hoise" is just extra horrendous noise! Abby |

One reason, why I hate to drive at dusk and nightfall. At dusk them critters are moving and during harvest time~when the farmers are doing the corn fields, they are scaring the deer out of the fields, onto the highways. The first time we hit a deer, I was 8 mos. pregnant, with my oldest son. It was a big buck. Hubby went for help and told me to cut the jugular vein(it was already dead). Back then, we could do that before the game warden had to check it out and give permission. Not a fun job, especially when you're pg. We were OK, but the car wasn't-totaled. We were shook up-scary. So I can imagine how the grandbabies felt. So relieved no one was injured. How is everyone today, Abby? Blessings, Skeeter |

So thankful that your family is safe! Hitting deer is really common around my area also, but so far I've always seen the deer in time to stop for them. Deer cross the roads any time of year, but fall seems to be the worst time because of the males chasing the females and hunters chasing the deer. Is the car repairable? I imagine that it will be awhile before the awful memories fade for your family. I would probably have dreams about it for a long time. Kathy |

Our town has a sign near the city park--Slow-Deer Crossings. I have never seen one there but they pass thru our yard a lot during hunting season. They know they are safe in our woods. I just hope I have the camera nearby when they come thru this year. Annie |

Jeesh - what an awful thing to happen. Glad they're okay. I think I'm the only person in my circle of friends who hasn't hit a deer yet. Knock on wood. I know I'd cry my eyes out. First for my car. Then for the poor deer. |
