I'm not doing any bending or much with my left arm. A physical therapist was here yesterday to see one of my residents and she gave me some great tips on how to protect my ribs using my left arm and how to lie in bed and brace my ribs and abdomen. With her help, the tearing pain has lessened, thank heavens. She also explained to Don how important it is for him to do all the bending and reaching work around here if he wants me to heal quickly. He really took her suggestions to heart as he doesn't want to be getting up and helping the oldsters with their morning routines and breakfast and morning chores as he relishes sleeping in. But he has been helping with all the morning chores without complaints since the doctor and the P.T. told him how important it is. di |

Di, I am so happy that you were able to get some relief from the pain with the tips from the PT. I so thankful that Don is there to help you, and I sure hope that he keeps it up until you are well and truly healed!! I will continue to say extra prayers for you until you are back to normal! Abby |

Ow. OW. OWWWWW. Poor Di. I haven't taken a bad spill like you... but I can relate to pain in multiple places from a car accident. "No Fun" is the understatement of the year. Blessings to both you & Don... as he takes on tasks outside his normal realm, and as you have to be accepting of the help... so you can heal well. I do so hate that you are in this pain. |

Good heavens, Di. I knew you had fallen, but I didn't know how badly your hurt yourself until now. I do hope that you will feel better each day. |

I had a feeling about the rib(s) being broken, but heavens, all the other stuff along with it..... Sounds like you should have been admitted to the hospital. What a nightmare. You take care, lady. You're in my thoughts and prayers. Barb |

Di, could you please give us an update, so that everyone knows what is happening and what to pray for? I know there is concern about nerve damage, and that you are having major trouble with your hip, both with moving and with pain. Do you have the results of the mri yet? If not, when do you get it? I'm praying that they find a solution quickly! Abby |

Sorry folks..been slow on the update. I went to the emergency room on Sat evening and was there for over 4 hours before being seen. My right hip and knee were completely giving out on me and I was falling. More xrays and tests and the doctor sent me home with a prescription for Vicodan although I told him I won't take it as I really can't function if I take Vicodan or Codeine or any heavy pain meds.
His feeling is that the present trouble is nerve damage in my spine, either from my recent fall in January or back to my spinal cord injury in the late 80's..He says the Xrays of my lower spine are a mess..his term. Next week I'm to see the orthopedic suregeron, a neurosurgeon and have an MRI or at least get those things scheduled.
In the meantime I'm walking with a crutch on my right side for some stability.
The reason I'm so unstable is that the spinal cord injury in 87 caused my leftside to be weakend and unstable so the right side of my body has had to be the workhorse and now that the right side is collapsing on me I literaly don't have a leg to stand on. So every step is precarious as the moment.
Think good thoughts. You know I'll trudge along until I get this problem solved and figure out a way to deal with it and overcome this obstacle.
Yesterday I had an MRI of hips and lower back and should have the results next week. |

Oh Di, I wish you all the best. I'm so sorry you are having these problems and surely all those doctors will be able to help you! Di, I'm going to be out of pocket from about Wednesday on next week as I have my own spinal issues going on and will have surgery next Thursday. Mine is cervical and not due to injury, thank goodness. Mine is just old age! LOL!! Take care and you will be in my prayers. Logan |
