Sorry, that I didn't see this earlier!! brdldy66 posted this under "Hawks" earlier today. ... I have to go to the hospital for an xray on my knee-- i fell on the driveway this morning. | I am praying that no major damage was done when you fell, and that you'll have a quick, relatively painfree recovery! Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. When I went to the hospital yesterday the doctor and I played a game of twist and shout-- he twisted and i shouted lol. And he almost got kicked too. Anyway he didnt xray it or anything but he said the ligament was torn a bit--not a lot though. Anyway no work for me till the end of the week and just try to rest it and keep icing it--or in my case peaing it lol--gotta love those frozen veggies. Had to stay off it when there is so much to be done around the house--now I have time and cant do it. Told the property mana ger that I fell and cant go to work for the week and he didnt say much that was of any use. We will see if he changes his tune when I cant pay the rent cause of the time off. Anyway just thought id give youa ll an update--couldnt post earlier--it wouldnt let me. |

I'm so glad to hear nothing's broken. Your frozen pea story reminded me of a time years ago that I sprained my ankle and the doctor recommended the same thing - but all I had was a bag of frozen raspberries. I fell asleep on the couch and when I woke up I thought I was bleeding to death! Turned out there was a hole in the bag. :) Hope you're feeling better soon! |

I laughed so loud yesterday at you post jen that I woke up my roommate lol. That would have been funny to see but i hope you weren laying on a light coloured couch. Anyway the knee seems to be getting a bit better but we have lots of snow and are expecting more and its hard to walk in as I dont have full range of motion. I have to go out today for a while too.My roomate will be with me though and I always have the cell phone with me-- even just to walk the dog. We have been looking for a new apartment for about amonth now and this incident just sped up the process faster. I went online to the local paper to look at their ads for apts and answered a couple of them. Their is one in a little 3 story building--about 12 apts I think. We went up to see it--it was only about 5 minute walk from where we are. There are actuallly two or three in it. There is one that is empty now and nearly finished on the ground floor, one on the second floor and one on the third that isnt empty yet but is coming up. Anyway-- all new appliances, freshly painted new tub surround hardwood floors all redone balcony etc etc. And they take dogs :) We have to go to the disability office to get an intent to rent form and take it back to them to fill out and then disabiklity will give us some extra money to help with moving--not quite a months rent-- but any bit helps --the rent is 900 everything included for 2 bedroom Here were paying 750 and heat and hydro and the place is a dump. Anyway tell you all more about the apt later--this is becoming a book lol. Hopefull move date is march 22nd or april 1 |

Happy Valentines Day everyone. Well we have been accepted for the new apartment. Now we just have to wait and see if we get some extra money from the disability office for the 1st or last months rent and then we will be moving by april 1st :) I have to go back to work tomorrow--I hope the knee holds up ok. At least its a short day on friday so it wont be too bad. it still sore a bit but I gotr a wrap for it and wore that for a while today--it seemed to help a bit as long as I dont turn real quick. Anyway hope everyone had a good day :) |

Well Monday was first full day doing my regular job at work. I put a brace on it to help with support--one of those ones you have to pull up but after a few hours it was too tight so I took it off. Today if I have to have something Ill just use a tensor bandage. Its not bad as long as I dont run--found that out trying to catch a bus yesterday:( and as long as I try to remember to keep leg straight--not turn it without the rest of body lol. Anyway just a s hort note now its heigh ho heigh ho its off to work I go--have to get money for the new apartment :) :) |

Brdldy, I'm so glad you're doing better! Knee injuries are a "pain", excuse the pun LOL. I've completely torn my ACL and MCL and it's not fun. Take it easy though..... it's easy to reinjure and you don't want that to happen!! Take care :) Cindy |

I'm glad your knee is getting a bit better. It is so important to not overdo it, but I think trying to keep moving is good also. I have had sore knees before, and have found the braces helpful but hard to keep on because of rubbing the skin. Kathy |

to help strenthen the muscles surrounding the knees and to prevent further damage. Get one of those cheap kid's bouncing balls that's about 12 inches in diameter. As you are finally sitting in the evening to watch the boob-tube put the ball between the ankles and lift the legs straight out without dropping the ball. Hold for the count of 5 and then lower back to the floor. Do it up 3 times and then rest. Gradually work you'r way up over a few days time so you get to the point that you are lifting 15 times and holding to the count of 30.... It's non-invasive and you will be able to tell the difference. I have OA, and it definitely helps! |
