Was talking with Louise and Erika last night when Louise mentioned Lex is having some problems right now. She's concerned he is losing the battle with his liver and kidney issues. He is behaving oddly....rather like misbehaving even turning away from favorite foods and scritches. She'll take him to the Vet as soon as she can but, please take some time and send them both good vibes and say some prayers. Gottem from me, Tickles and Ruby, Louise. |

Sorry about the new spelling of your name, Louise....I dropped the e somewhere around here. My understanding is that she'll take him in next week....can't do it right now.....or at least..I thought that was it. I sure hope the guy is gonna be okay... How is he today? How are you? |

I'm sure if Lex is ill there won't be any hesitation about getting him to the vet... A vet knowing it's an emergency would make time..... after all Lex is part of the family and we don't have a sick child and decide next week we'll see the doctor... We rush that child to the ER...... come Hell or high water.... |

my problem with Lex is hard for me to understand. It could be behavioral. It could be metabolic. As Dale said, his behavior has developed to be more aggressive and irritated. He has given me some good bites for no apparent reason. Bruising bites not bloody ones so he is showing some control. He also doesnt seem to know what to do with himself. He doesn't want to snuggle under the blankie while I watvh TV, he is very nervous and tends to flip out easily. He ends up racing back and forth across the back of the couch screaming in full display. He will step up and seem happy to be caged but then screams to get out. Once he calms down and comes out, he is anxious and nervous again. He has become even pickier about what he eats than ever. He even eschews hand feeding, something he used to love. It has become very difficult to get the nutritional suplements into him because he just spits out the handfeeding . I was gone last weekend so hope some of this is temper. If he doesn't settle down or gets worse, he will be off to the vet all the sooner. But it will mean several tests and that could be pricey. I've found that personality changes occur with people and animals when they have a chronic illness. My husband has changed from the person he used to be since having 2 heart attacks, and now being on all kinds of medicines. Not necessarily for the worst.....just different. Well, sometimes, for the worst.... My CAG MaggyMay has heart problems, and she's on meds also. Her changes are different than Lex's.....she sometimes stares off in space, and seems unaware of what it going on around her for minutes at a time. And some days just aren't good days. She'll play awhile on top of her cage, and then climb down and get in her cage and just sit and rest for quite a while. Her energy level is lower, and some days she's nippy also. Doesn't want skritches. It's sad to deal with. Hang in there, and we'll keep you in our thoughts and prayers. Barb |

Still keeping our fingers crossed while saying prayers for the two of you. If it be an issue with something in his environment or behaviour....maybe someone with Too experience can be helpful. I'm hoping it can be addressed without going to the vet of course. |
