Nothing serious, we hope, but hubby has to have a heart catherization tomorrow at 1:00. His last one 4 years ago showed about 60% blockage in his LAD, directly under the area where he already has a stent. Maybe another stent, and very little chance of bypass surgery, so we're hoping for the best. I had my 6 month physical this morning, and did well, but doc noticed I hadn't had a tetanus shot in 10 years, so I got one, and it's combined with pertussis vaccine now, so I'm safe from lockjaw and whooping cough. I had the shingles vaccine last spring, and it didn't hurt at all; this one is kinda a yowie. It hurt when I took off my teeshirt. Wah. Barb |

Hey there everyone, we got home around 8:00 pm, and we're all settled in our jammies. THANK YOU EVERYONE for the prayers and good wishes. He didn't even need another stent at this point. The doctor thinks his chest discomfort and tiredness is due to sleep apnea, and acid reflux. That means a sleep disorder doc and gastro doc, but that's okay. They closed off his femoral artery incision with a StarClose, a funny little tiny (4mm) clip that stays there. He now has another card to carry in his wallet along with his stent card. So we're tired but happy. I almost took my laptop to the hospital, but decided to just wait and get online no matter how late is was, and it's not even late. A great day, truly. Just knowing I had a lot of people praying for us was the best!! Love you all, and see you tomorrow! Barb |

What good news!! At least that he didn't end up with more problems than he started with. The sleep study would worry me to death. I can't sleep if I know anyone is in the room, other than Marty. They want to do one on me and I keep putting it off. Tell Marco, Yea for you!! Annie |

Annie, I did the sleep study... kept thinking that it was something of an oxymoron... How can one study to sleep? I failed it. . Not enough glue on the little things that they had stuck all over. Even in the early stages of sleep (and that was with meds) I managed to pull several off, and there was no way they could reattach them without waking me... Two hours later I said enough, and left. The second one they had upped the meds, so the RLS and allergies didn't keep me awake... they actually got 4 hours... they upped the meds again after that, and gave me the C-pap, but it's on the lowest setting, just enough so that I'm breathing filtered air, so the allergies don't effect the sleep I do get. Since I've been south, and there are less stresses, I no longer do the sleep med every night, and have been off one of the meds entirely for a year now. I still don't sleep a lot, but I am more relaxed. Barb, is that star thing so that there won't be a build up of scar tissue? Glad everything went well. ((Hugs)) |

What wonderful news! But I'm keeping both of you on my permanent prayer list.....you have too many potential problems staring you in the face to run around in this crazy world uncovered by prayer! di |

The Star thing is just to close off the hole they made in his femoral artery for the tube and camera to go in. Without it or another type of closure he would bleed to death from that artery. I had collagen plugs for three of mine and nothing but pressure for 30 minutes on the last one. That was miserable. The cardio tech nurse, a man, brought me back to the room mashing my artery and then a nurse stands there mashing your artery for 30 minutes. I asked her how she stands to do that for so long and she said you get used to it. She didn't let off that pressure that whole time. I would have been exhausted. It was not comfortable for me that time but the others were a breeze. I hope Marco feels well today. Annie |

He's feeling real good today. But he knows he still has, and will always have CHF, and has to be careful, whether he had a blockage or not this time. After his second heart cath (5 yrs. ago), he bled from the artery, and was in an actual puddle of blood in less than a minute. As I recall they put a couple stitches in, but I could be wrong. Someone mashed him immediately that day - I do remember that. I don't think he's going to like the sleep lab. Our #3 kid Brad went thru that, and used a CPAP for a while, but then decided to join a gym, and he exercised and lost 35 pounds, and was able to discontinue it. Marco and I are both overweight - not terribly, but 20 pounds apiece would be a helpful loss. Why the heck can't we do it?? Again, thanks to everyone!! Barb |

Thank you for the good wishes; we worked in the yard today (without overdoing) and it looks good and we feel good. I think we're ready for fall now. Barb |

I'm sooooooo glad he's doing so well.....and you too! I'll pray things keep getting better for you. A funny about that sleep test. Bob had it about five years ago and told the nurse while she was sticking all the things on him....and put the mask on him....that he didn't think he could sleep with all the catraptions. He said he layed there...then opened his eyes and told her he was sorry, that he should've peed before she strapped him all in. She said "Mr. Hagen, do you realize it has been 6 hours since you went to bed?" LOL.....he now sleeps with his cpap and oxygen generator. And I sleep with the wooshing sound while feeling the breeze from the air escaping his mask...sometimes making that funny ppfffffffffft sound, laying next to someone who looks ready for flight in his jet. |
