Hi!
My Budgie is a white budgie, who we originally thought was male but is now female, obviously as she is laying eggs.

She has started laying eggs in the past week and has so far laid four. Now, it looked like there was a tiny bit of blood on the first one.

She sort of huddles down like she is laying one again.

We know nothing about budgies really and she has always been VERY aggressive like, she won't let anyone put her water bowl or food in without biting very hard(it draws blood).

She is in a cage by herself. Is she nesting? Is she in need of company? What can we do to make her happier?

Any help would be much appreciated. Thankyou and God Bless:)

I'd suggest getting a good guide book on budgies and studying it! Read all the articles and information you can find about budgies. BirdTalk magazine has excellent articles. Do you have an Avian vet? It would be a good idea to consult him. I gather that this is her first clutch. Wait a while, then quietly remove the eggs. Get some advice before finding her a husband, although this is what you may need to do. Be prepared for being a grandparent!! Right now just give her tons of love and good food. She needs good nutrition while egg laying. Keep her stress free. See that she gets enough sleep and privacy. So: the prescription is a good diet and lots of love. And for you--get that book and learn all about your little girl. Good luck and keep us posted. Love, Marion
