Does anyone know about a champagne colored dove with a black ring on the back of its neck? It has taken over my patio and is quite tame. Sits on our parrot's outdoor cage and we now feed him.

Dennis,  I know nothing about doves except they are gorgeous.  Someone with info will be along in a bit to answer you.
I would not let any bird I don't know near my parrots cage.  It could have a disease that could be transmitted to your Amazon by droppings or feather dust.  I would sterilize the outdoor cage and keep it covered so the dove cannot sit on it. If you decide to keep the dove, it should be quarantined for about 45 days before allowing it in the vicinity of the Amazon.

Thank you so much for the warning - we didn't even think about the dove having a disease. Our Amazon loves to sit outside with us in the patio and the cage is her old one - we will now have to do something else as the dove loves the cage and spends hours sitting on it during the day. We have a food dish on top of the cage to protect the dove from any cats that may wander in the yard. The dove (we call her Mollie) chases all other doves away. We will think of some other way to take our Amazon outside. Thanks for the warning.

Dennis, It sounds like you have a Ring necked dove, also called a turtle dove. These fellows are sometimes kept with pigeons and will sometimes fly with them and return with them though not always right away. Does this guy have a band on his leg? If so it would be easy to track his owner that way. We have about eight or so of them here and the champange coloured are males while the female are a light tan/ off white color.
