Crystal, I read about this, but still can't believe it:

Are there really rides like this on top of the Stratosphere Hotel in Las Vegas????  And if so, who in the world, in their right mind, would ride on them???  I can hardly even look at the picture.

(Only posting OT junk like this because my birds are happy and well and occupied and not causing me any trouble that I need to post about.)

Barb

I don't want to post another OT topic, so I'll add this on.  It's cool.
I sent it by email to a couple of people, but here it is for anyone else who likes Christmas lights:

Yes, Barb, there are people who like that sort of thing.  When I visited my daughter in 1998, she took me to the Stratosphere.  We did the observation deck, but not the ride that shot straight up in the air or the hang and dangle one.  I don't remember the other rides they mention, so don't know if my memory is faulty or those rides have been added in the past 10 years.  I have trouble with heights making me dizzy, but enjoyed the view from up there.  I get motion sickness really easily, so wisely chose to not participate in the rides.  I don't do anything that makes people scream!  I still have a plastic glass from when I bought a pop there as a souvenir.  Kathy

Barb, they definitely exist.  Just watching from the ground gives me nightmares!  One of the rides (I can't recall the name) shoots you out from the structure like an out-of-control roller coaster and stops several feel over the edge and then just sits there.....dangling.
I don't do heights of any kind so.....no, I've not even attempted the observation deck.
LOL......and what kind of folks enjoy this??  Well....when you visit, we'll do some interviews...  The lines are always long.

I found what you're talking about Crystal:

Kathy, I forwarded this to my 3 boys, and 2 of them said they'd do it!
Heavens.

I did, Barb! Beautiful presentation!
I have to be honest though....if that guy was my neighbor, I'd have to move!

Actually, I read about them, and they no longer do this show at the house shown.  The traffic got so bad (duh) that they moved it to their daughter's house, which is further out of town.  It's somewhere in Utah.

There is a street about a mile from my neighborhood where about 14 or 15 people have their houses all decorated and synchronized to music like that, and last Christmas, it was a real traffic jam nightmare.  Not to mention all the noise.  And lights.  Too much of a good thing.

Good reasons not to have them close by! And.......I'd feel like a real scrooge - we do very little as far as decor on the outside. I'm to worried about someone stealing my treasures!
