I saw the photos of Lola and was very surprised you decided to get such a very loud large bird...

I have the M2's.... have had for years and wouldn't advise others to choose this bird unless they had a great deal of experience.

I would hesitate to have any papers on the grate of an M2.... hormonal reasons... and then they do stain those pretty pink feathers... even the wet looking ones in the tray are reachable... I have to use the brown paper roll that I buy at Home Depot.

What is the history on Lola?

Haahhhhhaahhaaaaa......boy, didn't you just say it all in one sentence.  By the looks of it....or should I say sounds....those might be the only words you'll be hearing for a long time.  I wonder if Scots or anyone with M2 experience can spell that sound.

 Hey Etta..
I didn't put those papers on top of the grate Lola pulled them up from the bottom with her/his tootsies. Lola keeps hiding under them  I think I am going to buy me some of that paper maybe she/he wont be able to get a hold of it and pull it up.
Lola's history... this is all I know...A woman bought her as a chick and owned her for 6 years and found herself owing another lady some money that she could not pay so this woman gave Lola to the other woman....Now the new owner has Lola and has only ever had Budgies and Cockatiel's and never handled a large parrot everything was going fine until about 4 months ago.  Lola was on the floor and stalking the husband then she decided she would have a sample his ankle bring blood out of the man..and from that day on Lola has been locked up in her cage with no human handling the woman is now afraid of Lola. She is in perfect feather and is going to the vet's on Friday for an over haul including a major nail job. Her back nails are so long that they form a complete circle.she has a good appetite she eats veggies and fruits, nuts and pellets
Lola let's me open the door and reach in to pet her/his wing and side I have scratched her/his head and kissed her/his toes threw the bars. When I kiss the toes she/he makes a kissing sound...lol.
I was just wondering today when is hormonal time????Might it be now??
You may notice I keep typing He/She ..Lola's eyes are pretty black not one tinge of red or brown in them I even shined a small flash light on them and they are still black so I am 99% sure my Lola is a male .

I can spell that sound
DEAFENING
and I know we are in the "honeymoon" stage of it all because she has only done it a few times.
It's a good thing I don't get along with the people next door, that way I don't have to worry about upseting a good neighbour that I like.
I can continue upsetting that ones I dont care alot for..lol

When you put two Greenwings, two blue and golds, two Cags (that at that time imitate the sun conure)... plus the sun conure and a couple squeeeks from a chattering cockatiel...... It MAY be close to deafening, but I think the TOO has it beaks down!

(sorry about the delete... obvious spelling errors)

I sincerely hope this works out with the M2.... the aggressive behaviour needs to be corrected immediately... (the chasing and biting feet/ankles) ... yelling/screaming or other punishment won't alter that, help to reward good behaviour applies to them when they show unacceptable traits....

There is a group that can help with those issues...

At six years old the chances are Lola has reached maturity usually between six and eight.

With any cockatoo after the second full moult it is quite obvious as to the sex, mostly due to eye colouring and if you see very dark then the odds are you do have a male. Ofcourse this applies to our pets, not any bird acquired for breeding purposes.

I have had so much stress the last few months I am going to have to seek help with my female. Living with her at this time is not a pleasant experience... I find I am shouting at her, using discipline that isn't always consistent... and almost dreading her temper tantrums. Most unfair to a wonderful creature who looks towards me for structure and security

The lady said Lola only bit her husband the once but that was enough to scare her away from Lola.
The aggressive behaviour needs to be corrected immediately... (the chasing and biting feet/ankles)...What sugestions do you have if he would happen to do this???
I haven't even had him out of his cage yet we are taking it nice and slow. Allen was giving him head scratches this morning threw the bars. He hung off of the side and turned his head so Allen could reach his crest.
I have been able to open the door and reach in to pet him on his neck and wing. When I ask him if he wants pets he shakes his head yes, thats when I move forward to touch him..
The lady told us Lola doesn't like men...I asked her "she doesn't like men or she just doesn't like your husband?" she said "my husband."
Allen and I both think she is ok with men or she would have tried to get him when he was giving Lola head scratches.

It's good to know it isn't all men but I feel that once the "thrill" of scaring/biting while on the floor and the intense reactions of the people around possibly sent Lola a positive sign when infact the commotion was negative...

There is an intensive group... by intensive it means lots of reading and following suggestions... called BAS... it is for Susan Friedman's LLP students and anyone else who is interested in improving their Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) skills to prevent and solve behaviour problems with their companion parrots.

Lots of reading as I said earlier and much more than I can now retain.... but all sceneries are interesting and everyone needs help at some time...

Etta is this the right place??
I can't wait until Friday for the vet visit so I can find out for sure if I have a male or female on my hands. It is still going to be hard to call a guy Lola.

OK I got that paper and he still pulls it up from the bottom of his cage floor.....I think I am just going to have to go paperless and deal with the mess of trying to clean the bottom with poop and a million wood pieces and food all over it OH GOODIE....lol
He has a good appetite but I decided to put his food bowl on top of the grate he takes it from the bowl to the back corner of the cage and drops of in a pile he seems to hide everything there for later.....
Last night I asked him if I could pet him he nodded his head yes . So I open the cage door reach in and am petting him then he reached out with his foot and put it on my arm the next thing I knew I have this M2 crouched down on my arm with his beak resting on my skin and my whole arm is shaking(Scared to death) I don't know him enough yet. So I say Allen help because he wouldn't get off of my arm then I lowered my arm and rolled it forward at the bottom of the cage and he stepped down. My hands trembled for 10 minutes after but we made progress and it wasn't a negative experience so I am pleased.
