I came home tonight to work on some projects i have started, sitting there reading some background on the new computer, and then zap........no monitor...natha, nothing......
I changed the monitor, nothing.......the video card in my new computer, less than a year old, gone.
Not only is there not a service center close, the only way i can use the warrenty is to mail it into Gateway, and they erase my hard drive.....everything i have done, all the stuff i have made that i didn't back up to my external, about the last month's worth of work, gone...........
I am so angry at Gateway right now i could spit nails..

I'm so sorry Sherry. Can you take your hard drive out and put in another machine til you can save it to your external? Call me.

My notebook pc developed a short between the monitor and keyboard. They told me they would erase the harddrive before working on it. I begged them to just fix the short then see if it needed the harddrive wiped out. It didn't, so I didn't lose a thing.
Your problem is different but beg them anyway.

I tried to call my IT guy, the sweetie that saved some of my stuff on jr's computer when it crashed. guess he isn't home tonight.  I'm hoping he has a hard drive he can save my stuff to until i can get this one back. It is unbelievable that a company as large as Gateway doesn't have any service centers anywhere in the US except in Temple TX!
fingers crossed Kevin can save my stuff for me.
