Hi all, wanted to thank everyone for prayers and condolences on Theo. We all are still missing and mourning him... I have found a guy not far from me with a pair of Senegals sitting on eggs RIGHT NOW! Due to hatch next week! The guy knows i have to wait till March before i have any money but said it should work out fine! The babies need to have time to fledge unless i want to hand feed. It would be nice to hand feed but the money just wont be here yet... gggrrrrrr! He wants $350 for the baby fully weaned and another $20 to DNA. NOT BAD! Question now is male or female? I currently have all male... so maybe its best to keep it that way?

Congratulations on having your name in for a baby Senegal!  I have never had one as a pet, but all I have read in Bird Talk about them makes them sound like a really nice bird to have.  If you get a male, you don't have to worry about having egg laying problems.  But I think otherwise either sex would be a great choice.  It is nice he is flexible on the payment plan.  Maybe he'll let you visit after the baby is hatched, so that you can bond with him/her?  Missing a pet never goes away, but the pain does lessen with time.  I still get teary eyed over a cat I lost back in 1983!  Kathy
