I guess the ex owners didnt really have a clue. She was wanting to be in her tent awfully early yesterday. This evening we noticed an egg  in her tent. She hasnt turned nasty to us yet. We even reached in cause we thought it was a bead she took into her tent. She didnt try to bite or anything. We even had her out a little while earlier. Boy am I shocked. Anyways......I was wondering how long I should leave the egg in so she doesnt lay more. Ive heard horror stories about eggbound birds. How do I know of there is a problem?

TY, Ruby

What do you have? a little Cockatiel?  there will probably be more eggs to follow and I'd leave them 'till she is through laying.
But in the meantime I'd cut back on the daylight she's getting and the tent may have to be removed after the laying has stopped..... It possibly will only encourage her...
Ruby, there are some good sites on egg laying, over production and then on egg binding.....
Just type in egg binding  and be prepared to read ...... there's so much out there on the subject....Too2

Ruby, click on Bird Care Articles, near the bottom of the left sidebar. A list of articles opens up, one of which is "Too Many Eggs". If you click on that, it opens a very good article by Dawn Hanlon.

To get there more quickly, you can just use this link:
Hope that helps!

Abby

p.s.  If you haven't already browsed through all the articles under Bird Care Articles, you might find them really interesting. There are a variety of topics all relating to the care and safety of our feathered companions.
