I have a pair of lovies have decided it's breeding season. This will be their 4th clutch if it's successful. They have normally chewed up the wooden perches to make nesting material but this time they are using seed shells. not sure why they changed, they have 3 wooden perches to pick from. the male has always been a better parent, incredible attentive to the female and the babies, he also will bang the food bowls if he runs out of something he deems important (usually spinach when there are babies). the funny thing he is doing now is while helping to make the nesting spot. he and the female are breaking open seeds and putting the shells in her rump and then going to their spot and he is digging them out of her feathers. it's a funny site and so sweet too.
so what strange habits do your lovies have? (when breeding or not)
