What would be the most humane way to kill my lovies eggs.  She has already had three babies previously and I do not want anymore.  Please help!!  I don't know what to do.

I take my canary eggs away the day after they are laid and just throw them in the yard to feed the wild birds.  I them replace them with plastic fake eggs.  This way I have destroyed the eggs before any baby has formed, fed the wild birds, and the fake eggs prevent the hen from over-laying as she will sit on the fake eggs for about 3 weeks before she looses interest in the nest.  di

P.S. If there already formed babies in the egg I could not bring myself to kill those babies.  That is why I check my nests early each morning and make the egg switches at that time.  di

I plan on checking the nest throughout the day and replacing them with fake eggs as soon as she lays but I don't have any wild birds in my yard.  I have people suggest that I boil them, freeze them and smash them.  Those all sound horrible.  I guess that if they are smashed right away, you are sure that they died quickly and are for sure dead.  I still am undeceided.  Please send your suggestions, I'm running out of time.
