My love bird keeps loving his tent. You all know what I mean I hope. I just cant believe it. It leaves all this white stuff on it. GROSS. I removed the tent for a week thinking he would forget it. 2 days after I put it back in his cage he is back to it. Do you think it is because it is possibly his mating season? He is 1 1/2 yrs old. I hate to take it away cause he sleeps in it too. Any suggestions? Oh, and he eats the white stuff. UGH.

GAG!!!!! HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
Hey thanks for sharing that one!

I would probably take it away only because I would be afraid that he'll see it as his mate and start becoming territorial toward you eventually.  I have a friend with a Lovie, and she had to take everything fuzzy out of his cage during this season.  Those lovebirds have quite a drive don't they.

I had one of those happy hut things for Razzle, my lovie, too, and the same thing happened. I had to take it out because he kept "lovin" it !  But I replaced it with this other tent, not fuzzy, and he sleeps happily in there, and plays in there, but no white stuff!  It works out much better.  Here's a photo.  I had to take all the fuzzy stuff out, like rope perches with fluffy ends, and anything soft and cuddly....guess its just a lovebird thing!

hee hee...thanks Tivabird. I think so too !  :)  He is a little rascal though. SO full of himself! Very spunky, and adorable, and a real handful! But I love him so much. He just makes life all the more interesting!

Sorry I if I grossed you out but god it is horrable. I did take my fuzzy tent out and I have the same one in the picture - he loves this to death too. I guess I will take it out. How long does this last? Its been a least a month or two?
Oh, and your lovie is so cute.

tivabird, thats ok I knew you were just giving me a hard time and you are so right it is funny but it is disgusting!! I cleaned the cage so good last nite and took out tent. He was making the chirping noise and you knew it was one of not liking what I was doing. So sad for him but I couldnt stand it any longer.

How cute.  Those lovies are SO adorable aren't they?  Post a picture of your little horney toad for us if you can.  Is he a peach face?  If I had time, I'd get a black masked.  SOOOO pretty!  They ALL are, I don't think I've ever seen a yellow one like Raz before him.  Good luck with his little 'phase' I hope it's over soon.

Tivabird,
My pictures are in the photo album, page 2, under PJB mom.
I dont know how to bring on this section from the photoalbum.
I took the tent out as I said for about 4 days now, he now sits on his swing. I know he is upset but still chirps, plays all day so must not be that upsetting to him. One thing, alot less mess to look at!!!!

Awwww, cute little Lovie!  Thanks for telling me where your pictures were.  I like the one of you and your daughter too.  Wow, whatta beautiful girl you have.  Congratulations on all of those cuties in your album, they all look great.

Yeah, who wants to look at a messy tent like that?  HAHA!

I make these little tents for all twenty of my lovebirds out of tissue boxes and fusable fleece.  Ten of them can be made in 30 minutes once you get the hang of it at a cost of about $2, so you can dispose of them as often as you like at that price.  They are safer that the ones you buy because the fleece being fused to paper means they don't fray, so their little toes don't get caught.  I made them for them at Christmas & put presents inside along with these popcorn ice cream cones.  They sent this card & signed it.
