Hi..I'm really sorry if I'm being a bother with all these questions I'm just trying to educate myself as best I can before I make a purchase like this.. so here goes:

I read in a book and also in a few articles online that Masked Lovebirdies seem to be tamer and make better pets.(also that males are better pets than females?) but it seemed sort of odd... do you guys know anything about that?

Thanks!

I agree with the book as we've had both the Blue and Green Masked anad they were the tamest little devils....... we never had them sexed but I believe they were all females..... didn't talk much although tried to copy the CAG's with sounds and whistles...........
I have heard that the Peachface can get nippy......our Mask's never were.......  Too2

I like the peachies best, but I'm sure it's because the ones I've had were so tame. My male normal peachfaced was sweet and loving, even after he became a father. I also had a dutch blue peachie and she was wonderful. Any love bird, if not handled often will lose it's tameness.

I have a peach (don't know the sex for sure) who has been living in a large aviary for the past 5 months with a bunch of other birds (rosella's and plumhead parakeets mostly in her pen, and a whole flock of zons a couple pens over) because I can't have her at my place for now, and I went back to visit her over the holidays a couple of times.  I hadn't seen her since september and she recognized me almost immediately! She came down and gave me tons of kisses and cuddles and I had to pull her off of me when it was time to go (which made me feel really bad).  It took over a year for her to be this tame, and she still bites (hard) sometimes...but anyway, the point is, she hardly gets handled there, mostly talked to and she's still completely tame after 5 months. Maybe it's because there aren't any other lovies in there.

Wow, I wish my lovie would give me kisses. She/he lets us hold her for short seconds a time - never bites us and plays with us with the little ball, but never kisses us even though we kiss her every time we hold her. After being 2 do you think she/he will?

many years ago when I first started getting into birds- I worked for a lady cleaning cages (this is the cause for my needing parrots anon!)  She had a little dutch blue that had a nervous condition that made him pick himself bald.  She was going to destroy him because she didn't want to breed him and she didn't want anymore as pets.  So guess what??? He  came home with me.  He was the sweetest bird I have ever had.  He always wanted to be with me.  I bought him this thing for feather pluckers and it worked for a bit.  Then he would pluck again.  So he was beautiful for awhile then he would pluck himself bald!  So looking back it must have been hormonal.  Boy I was inexperienced then!  But anyway- sorry about the rambling!  I just wanted to let you know that he was so sweet!
