hello everyone,
My husband saw a house in the neighbor a week or two ago with mccaws sitting outside in the yard with their owners. Today he called me on his way to work to tell me. So of course I had to drive over to the house and introduce myself. What I saw was the most beautiful 4 mccaws. 2 Gold mccaws, 1 scarlet and 1 greenwing. They were just beautiful. 3 were 3 yrs old and 1 was 4. I was able to hold 2 of them. They were like big babies, not afraid at all and I was so amazed they wanted to see me. At first I was hesitate, although I have a grey and citron I was somewhat leary. I held them and loved it. They are so beautiful. I cant get over the size of the beak of the green wing and scarlet. They are well taken care of and everyone in the house loved their birds. They were on a wheel horse (wooden thing I think you call it) They showed me to watch them, They put the birds down on the driveway, the grandmother walked into the garage and opened the door to the house. One by one they followed and stepped up to the door and walked in. The owner says that they taught learned by themselves but just following the owners of the house. I was amazed. Anyways I wanted to share this with everyone as I am amazed at how such a large itimating bird is so friendly. I may have to consider one seeing that my husband always wanted one. Just beautiful!!!!

Patti

You would not regret it. My husband also wanted a macaw and I was scared to death of that big beak. We were at a bird show and he found a 3 month old blue and gold. She was as gentle as could be and now at one yrs old she is still a gentle sweetheart. Sometimes I wonder if she even knows she has the power in that beak to crush.fingers. She was expensive but worth every penny "GO FOR IT"

Easy for you to say (hehe). I am suck a sucker for nice behaved birds. My two are so good. I have a 10 yr old Citron and 11 yr old CAG. They are well behaved. I have had for 2 1/2 yrs. I have a Standard Poodle and a pekinese poodle mix. So we are full. I just love animals. My daughters want a cat so I am going to post about that.
Tell me how loud is your mccaw. Does he tear your ears off when he talks? Do your neighbors complain. We can hear our birds talking whistling when we come around the corner walking our dogs - it amazes me sometimes.
Maybe I should surprise him for his bday in Sept??? I would really have to be prepared for this though what if he got mad???? Oh no why do we want more and more??

Hello, trust me, you won't regret owning a macaw. they are the best pet birds to own. i own a Harlequin Macaw, and her name is...Terra, and she is just the most lovable, sweetest parrot in the macaw family to have. and yes she was very expensive to, but i love her to death. i couldn't ask for a better macaw than her. she is just 2 1/2 yrs old, and she is very smart. she has a very good vocab for her age. my bond with her is astronomical to!!! i was afraid of her beak to at first, but she took to me instantly. when they like a person, male/female, they bond for life!! she loves attention and she demands it all day long, she loves to play, especially with me...lol. believe me, get a macaw, you will not regret it...Donna.
