Beau is chewing on a popsicle stick! That might not be very exciting to you, but it sure is to me. I don't think her previous home gave her stuff to chew, as she has never chewed on stuff like my other guys. She has been chewing on paper for several months, but this is the first time she has actually splintered wood! lol I'm really tickled! Abby |

Pwac, Beau is a Hahns Macaw and was eight years old in August. She has been with me since she was six and a half years. She didn't really know how to play, chew or anything when she first came to me, so it really is a big step for her to be chewing on wood, and I'm really happy about it. I'm hoping she'll start using some of the toys that she has in her cage, instead of just fraying the rope ends. Abby |

Congratulations. I understand why you are excited. I'm glad that little sweetie is finally starting to behave like 'real' bird. I had a lady come into my shop to have her birds wings and toenails clipped. It was a RLzon. It was in a big cage with no toys. She said she didn't buy toys because her bird hated them. All it ever did was fight with them or chew them up. I explained that's what it was supposed to do. Poor Beau probably never had any to play with so she doesn't know what to do with them. This is a step forward for her. Peggy |
